Stopped by here with brokensail and t0rin0 during GABF week. It’s a pretty nice bar/restaurant but they have on tap surprisingly few Renegade (only 2-3 during our visit). I believe that tasters weren’t offered, so we ended up ordering a round of pints at a slightly high price and left. I’d definitely recommend the other location if you’re looking to try more of their beers.

not a bad little bar and near university of denver for all those bros. kind of tough to park as its on a heavily trafficked street. they don’t do flights, but they will do 10 oz pours of the beers normally served in pints. house beers were pretty good, i thought. pricing was okay, particularly during happy hour.

This is the new location, which (in my opinion) isn’t as nice as the old location. Actually, from a décor standpoint it’s probably nicer with a real bar and some tables and a food menu. What it doesn’t have that the other one does is a happier atmosphere. The other one is essentially a neighborhood bar and they have board games, music, and on certain nights they do Connect 4 tournaments. Also, parking seems to be easier at the other location. The upside to the new one is more taps and guest taps. Prices were a bit high but the service was friendly. It’s a little south of the rest of the beer spots in Denver so I probably wouldn’t come back unless heading down to TRVE or possibly over to Witts End (haven’t been yet, so at some point I’ll be passing through this area to get there).

Being located so close to the campus, parking and some of the surrounding area can be annoying. Once inside the building, the dim and subdued ambiance makes up for it. There is a literature theme going on here with references to classic books abound. I’m not a huge reader, but it works and it’s definitely less grating than some other ideas for ambiance around town. While I was there the last half of a Smashing Pumpkins album played followed by the second half of an STP album. Decent enough. The beer selection is pretty good. They have some of their own beer on, obviously, and it seems to be the better value. There isn’t an abundance of Colorado offerings on, but so many other places focus so heavily on that that I don’t mind something different for an occasional change of pace. The bartender was very nice and helpful. Also, the beer and food specials on the lunch menu are bitchin’.

Renegade opened this place a few weeks ago - right around the corner from the DU campus - bar with a small kitchen, serving pizzas, salads, and cheese plates - parking is a bit of a pain in this area, so be prepared to park several blocks away unless you want to park in a one hour parking zone - bigger than the brewery taproom, but not by much, and the low ceilings and dark interior decor actually make it feel smaller inside than the brewery itself - they have this odd literature schtick thing going on - pages from "classic" american novels are embedded in the bar top (Catcher in the Rye, Great Gatsby) - it looks like an 11th grade English class reading list exploded all over the bar - they even hand you the menus.shoved inside books - I’m an English teacher and even I find this lame - 25 taps, five or which are renegade brews, so a smaller renegade selection than the brewery - one beer is exclusive to the place (an american strong ale which is actually very good) - other brews are mostly craft from other states and a few imports - a surprisingly small selection of other small CO breweries (given this is run by a small local brewery, I was expecting them to be more supportive of other small breweries in the area) - none of the taps were particularly exciting or rare, but it was a decent selection - I should also add that they do not do tasters here, even of their own beer - they will give you "tastes," but no actually taster pours, so you’re SOL tickers - prices are on the high side for many beers, average for some others (their ipa is one buck more per pint than at the brewery, wtf?) - limited bottle selection - staff was knowledgeable and friendly, but the customers, given the neighborhood, were mostly bros and annoying, privileged white college kids (given the college bar next door, I guess it should not have been a surprise) - unless you are dying to try the one beer exclusive to this place, it is not really worth a stop, especially considering there are no other decent beer spots close by - just go to the brewery.
