An werry special "beerplace" Kitch it’s à Moore exckt. The selecktion of beers was not inpresiv, But I was sattisfid with the beers I’ve trayd. Will come back in the summer, when the Biergarden is open.

Maybe they had a day off, but this was a big dissapointment. Expected way more beers to chose from, had a hard time to find 3 that make me a bit interested... The looks at the back (and the whole Hopduvel) are pretty nice, I somehow like this kind of kitch. But when we came in it was cold... Where we sit the chair was almost on fire (really was smoking!) of the heat of the heater... The person we got our order didn’t came back in about 1hour15mins, this with only 3 small groups of people, all 2-3... After that long time I had to go order at the front, cause otherwise we never got a second drink I think. The third one was a bit quicker, but the rudeness to other customers and us was a bit over the edge. Will give it another try one day maybe, but for now... this bar dont get half of the points, and is way overrated in my opinion. Hope they just had a bad day... Cause this was pretty bad. The looks are good, the staff and beerlist isn’t that impressive. Especially the staff.

An eclectic but really cool place. Decked out in random decorations, there’s a library room with animal mounts, a tea room area that looks like the ultimate gradma’s parlor, and an extensive forrest like back yard seating area. The beer list is not super extensive, but has an excellent selections. Prices are good and food looks great. A must if you’re in the area.

Lovely place, located far away from the city centre. Beautiful garden which creates an almost romantic setting for drinking your favorite Trappist. Too bad I was there with 3 male friends :P

I visited back in 2006, before the place was refurbed and (by all accounts) changed for the worse. My impression was of a quaint backstreet bar, with a nice garden, good range of beers and reasonable bar food. I was happy to sample Westy 12 whilst here and soak up a bit of sunshine.

A great location with a very nice open space outside where one can really enjoy great beers and the served food. In summer time it is possible to meet a singer who’s bringing some arias in exchange for some coins... That way he buy his own beers ;-) Luckly he doesn’t sing too bad. If you’ve the chance, come to this place. Easy to reach from the station Gent-Sint-Pieters. A walk of 15 minutes.

When the Hopduvel was saved from closure early this year by new owners GBG Belgium and others shouted hurrah and even snuck it into the latest edition. The beer range held up initially but was probably just using up old stock. Now it is plummeting. (What do they do that ? It seems dim.) This rating was not helped by only managing to be served two beers in 90 minutes, which was some sort of record. The food is blander and more Euro-bistro than it was too. Three readers have reported the same in the past 3 weeks.

A beer central. Yet it seems more of a restaurant than a beer bar. You will find beers here. Uncommon beers. But uncommon great beers are not likely. But the food is good, and in combination of food and beer this is a good place. Garden area is quite nice.
