48 Guys aren’t very friendly. Most stuff can be purchased cheaper at grocery chains now. Nothing really sticks out about this place... decent selection |
64 The best stop for under six beer in Knoxville. Will break up everything but the 12 bottle mix packs for singles. Small pipe selection and great humidor if you want smokes. I always get an attentive hello although staff is more knowledgable about cigars than beer. Mike (the owner) has been willing to listen to requests but has the same fights that all TN beer shops do with the distributor. Mostly at their mercy. e-Newsletter is nice and they’ve had some interesting events featuring several beers. |
78 Used to more oriented, selling homebrew supplies. Now primarily cigars with a good beer selection for east TN, and some coffee. I usually know more about beer than the people working in beer stores, so I rarely ask questions, but they’re always friendly and helpful. I’ve starting smoking cigars, and would recommend Leaf and Ale to cigar newbies. Not all beer is refrigerated, but I’ve never had a problem with freshness. |
68 A lot of good singles here. A great place for Knoxville natives to try a bunch of different beers. I personally enjoyed the selection of lambics. Nothing too rare here, but a good selection. |
72 Everything in singles, which is one of my main criteria in the "overall" score. Lots of cigar smoke, and the staff seems to be all retired guys who come in and work for free so they can smoke cigars away from their wives. So... they know alot about cigars and not so much about beer, but they’re friendly and attentive if you want help. What I like the best is, you can almost always find a couple of Knox County cops (in uniform) sitting on the sofa smoking a cigar and gossiping with everybody. A tad pricey, but if you’re in the area it’s one of the better places for under 6% beers. |
72 Best place in Knoxville for low gravity beers. |
72 Mostly a cigar shop with good selection of beers. I think they boast of having 200+ beers. Most of the usual names but they do have good selection of regional beers. |
66 Pretty good selection of under 6% beers. Prices are on the high side, but not extortionate. The best part is that they sell singles. |
68 A decent selection of bottles. They had some cans that I’d never heard of but they had them. Had a shelf of singles warm. Not as many regional micros as I would have hoped but a decent selection. Staff was friendly and wanted to help. |
74 Leaf & Ale has been expanding their beer selection continually over the past few years and has now easily the most extensive inventory in Knoxville. There are a few pretty good things that aren’t available at any other store in town. I picked up a cool 1.3 gallon keg today of some Olde Hickory stuff. All of the 6 packs are available in singles on a central shelf. The prices are just a notch higher than other stores, but it’s not ridiculous. oh, no beers over 6% here. |
