Yebisu Beer Museum

The museum is cool if you’ve never been or don’t know much about beer in general. You can get most of the beers other places throughout the year now, so really there is no need to go here unless you want to see the museum.

This place used to serve a couple beers that were available no where else. Not any more. Just 5 different Yebisu on tap, the same ones you can get at any Ginza Lion Restaurant. I asked about their seasonal "gift-box-only" beer, and that was only available by lottery for some people who took the tour. Lame. It’s free to walk around looking at the old photos and bottles in the museum, which is a nice way to kill 15 minutes or so. Beers are ¥400 for 380 ml. Not terrible, but not a great deal either. This could be skipped without any real loss.

Came here after lunch in Roppongi. They have tours though the tour is only in Japanese, tour exhibits include English descriptions though. Decided to go through the pretty small but informative museum exhibit on my own which I recommend if you don’t understand much Japanese. Small area with first come tables where you use a vending machine to buy tokens good for beer and food. Only stuck to the beer which was fine, 5 or so standard Yebisu beers available. Small gift shop area with some clothing, snacks, glassware, etc. Worth checking out once if you’re in Tokyo though I don’t know if I’d return without going with someone who hasn’t been. Enjoyed the tour at Kirin Beer Village in Yokohama much more so I recommend that if you have the chance.

I agree with Schlenkerla, not worth a special trip. I went here a long time ago when I lived in Tokyo(2001 or so). I often go to the Photography Museum in the same complex which is nice & Good Day Books used to be right around here(they moved). I have less reason to visit the area nowadays. Anyways, it is a typical mostly in Japanese industry museum in the basement of the complex. The visit ends in a big bar area. That’s pretty much it, maybe 30 min an hour tops to see it all.

Museum is not very informative, however you learn a bit about the different phases of beer culture in Japan, some nice pictures, but nothing special. Small merchandise and a tasting room are attached. If you are close by, you should visit, otherwise not worthwhile.

This is primarily a a self guided beer museum. there are some interesting exhibits that show the development of beer in Japan. At the end is an area where you can purchase beers with tokens. Beers are very reasonable in price. There is aslo a shop where Sapporo &Yebisu logo items may be purchased. Not a real brewery tour but can’t beat the beer prices.

If you are into beer it’s worth a look, but this is all a stage managed place. No brewery tour. Some interesting exhibits particularly the advertising area that has some beautiful prints of the old posters featuring Japanese beer girls. There is a drinking area which serves draft beers. You buy tokens and get the beers. They do about 5 beers. It’s very good value for japan and a few locals drop by straight after work, although it closes early. Also has a shop selling glassware and trinkets.

This is only nessesary if you need a tick or two.... boring museum, boring beers....

The museum was fine, but not as interesting as other brewery tours. The real reason to visit is for the bargain beer tasting. The location is convenient to the public transport.

il museo è veramente molto bello soprattutto come strutturato, la degustazione di birra è un po’ limitata e le birre beh sono quelle che sono.... il cibo che offrono si limita a dei cracker troppo piccoli e pochi che non bastano neanche per la prima pinta :)
