68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 12/20 phaleslu (316) Cincinnati, Ohio | January 15, 2011 Brandt’s is in the busy U City Loop just outside the St. Louis City border. It closed for a couple months and reopened, unfortunately with less of a craft beer selection than before. There is still a decent amount of Goose Island, Southern Tier, Six Row, Schlafly, and a few others, though. The happy hour specials are also good- $3 drafts, including all crafts. They also had $3 Southern Tier bottles when we were there. The service is super friendly, and the bartender was enthusiastic about craft beer and seemed like she was just getting into it. I wish this place kept the tap and bottle selection it had before, but it’s still a decent place to go in the Loop for craft beer. Blueberry Hill, Cicero’s, and Pi all have a bigger selection but all also get a lot more crowded. This place is low-key and cool; there was a guy waxing nostalgic about his days in Mpls drinking Surly everyday. The craft beer enthusiasts are here, and hopefully more beer follows. |
