64 2010-03. Located in a lively street, the restaurant seems to be quite trendy; at least the music is creating a very nice atmosphere. The tap selection can be interesting from the numeric point of view (about 10 taps, half from local micros), but they are all corny lagers and bland ales. The place, even if it’s only 5pm, smells of frying oil. It may sound not interesting, but actually I kinda like this place. |
54 Some readers may not find my comments interesting, as I’ve never gone here for a beer, but rather for a sip or two of dry red wine. Service is funky/friendly. Inside looks a bit dingy and uninviting. Needs renovation. No alcohol allowed on the (tiny) patio, but ok if you sit or stand at the "take out window". Small but decent selection of wines, esp. by the glass. I’ll check out the beers next time. |
70 I haven’t yet visited at night, but brunches and lunches are fantastic - excellent food (and coffee) with good ambiance. Place is always packed but not too loud during the day. Airy and open up front with tables on the stage area in the back that are more apropos for the hung over. Small but decent and rotating selection of local micros. Very friendly and timely service. |
56 An eccentric East Vancouver café/bar with dark scenic wall paintings and B&W drapes. Nice regional tap selection. Trendy alternative/electronica music. The place I would be frequenting if I lived in the area. Crannog, Storm and Backwoods on tap. |
38 Had a decent selection of beers, but the staff didn’t really know what they had. Food was below average and the service was terrible.I asked for the Black Plague which they said they had and ended up with Storm Scotch |
54 Updated June 27, 2006. Casual, hip-ish place with decent food and a small, but funky tap list. Any place with ney music is cool in my books. Latest visit was similar to past visits in that not all the beers were in great form, and the selection feels weak if you go there more than once per year, or if you live in East Van and can get all those beers elsewhere without going all the way to the Drive. |
