From outside looks like warehouse. Not so many people inside, three home beers at the time (March 2009), knowledgeable and friendly owner (speaks English, bartender only German). Cosy atmosphere, not too loud jazz music. Not so difficult to find when you hit the right side. Metro line U4/U6 station Spittelau. Go to exit Heiligenstädterstraße/Döblinger Hauptstraße. Across the street is the stairway, climb it, than left on the bridge. Go off the bridge when you cross the railway tracks (don’t cross entire bridge). Then go left and after two minutes walk you’ll see the Eipeltauer sign.

great atmosphere! brewer is very knowledgeable, friendly . The Ale is outstanding. Very innovative beer styles. Music is great as well

Eipeltauer serves the best ale in town! The lagers, mainly the Märzen, called 1190 are great too. Regularly you can find here unique beer innovations as coffee or chilli beers. From the pub you have a great view into the brewery, where you can sometimes watch the brewer during his work.

Accidentally I visited Aipeltaur in the morning when it was still closed, but I was lucky enough to meet the owner in the yard and he kindly let me in. Two house beers where available on tap in December 2007. Beers are available to take away but only if requested beforehand. The restaurant side of the brewery was still slightly under construction but they do have a lunch menu and occasionally bands playing. The place is located within walking distance from Spittelau U4/U6 subway station (not too easy to find though, eh).
