Hops Grillhouse and Brewery, Ft. Myers

About the fifth of this chain that I have visited. These guys are like the McDonalds of brewpubs - you know exactly what you are going to get when you go to one - and that is the problem. The taps never vary. Visited here in March of ’07. Horrific odor upon entering - the carpet badly needed cleaning - put a bad taste in my mouth from the get go. Beer was serviceable - five on tap - four standard and one rotating seasonal. Service was just a tad slow. Food was fairly decent - as always and the menu is varied. Not worth going out of your way for - but does in a pinch.

Very good food for a chain. Excellent service. Comfortable atmosphere and nice decor. The beer is mediocre at best and it’s all about the beer with me.

This review takes into account the food as well as the beer and overall service. Based on the beer the place is avg at best, but the service, quality food, and prices make this place a good stop when in the Ft. Myers area. Based on my trip this is the only place to get decent beer plus food in the area. So lets get to the review, the hops is located in a stand alone bldg in a shopping center complex across from Best Buy. Upon entering it is very busy but feels pretty relaxed. As you walk in you walk by the bar. It also has a open kitchen which I like and the beer is good not great. They also have a happy hour for those interested. My wife had the caribbean steak which was cooked to perfection and I had the burger cooked to exact specs. The service was great and the menu was well thought out and had a great variety. I recommend this hops if your in the Ft. Myers area. --

Stopped for a beer & to check the place out. I felt like I was at Applebee’s. Now Applebee’s is ok, but they don’t claim to be a brew pub

This is a dissapointment. Don’t waste your time the beer just isn’t good period. I go back every 4-6 months to check on improvements but none have surfaced yet.
