January 22, 2008 [ Updated January 29, 2008 ] This is a small, upscale wine bar located on the edge of Orlando’s Thornton Park district. No beer on tap, but they do carry a rotating selection of about 30 bottled microbrews. This is one of the only places in the heart of downtown where you can actually get a good craft beer, which is why I added it to the database. On any given Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night, this small space is crowded with well dressed downtowners looking for a drink. The setting is very nice, with hightop tables and comfortable couches inside, and metal tables and chairs on the surrounding patio. They serve small dishes, appetizers, cheese and fruit in case you’re hungry. The beer selection is not outstanding as they cater mostly to the wine crowd, but there is something for everyone and its probably the best beer list in all of downtown. Warning: their website is NOT up to date on their selection. Highlights from this past weekend were Kalamazoo Stout, Two Hearted, St Bernardus 12, Fat Dog, Shakespeare Stout, 60-Minute, and Steelhead. If you’re in the neighborhood and you’re looking for a good beer, this is probably the best you will find. Nice place for a quiet conversation over a drink. |
