5 reviews for Racetrack Liquor and Fine Wines
| kiefdog (101), Tampa, Florida | | June 22, 2008 We have visited this store about a half dozen times in the past few months. Well-maintained store in a small strip mall along Racetrack Road. The signage on the windows initially caught our attention as it advertised 150 specialty beers (we did get a chuckle out of the misspellings of beers on the window as we looked closer). The staff is always very helpful but some have a limited knowledge of beer. Selection is much better than typical liquor stores (DFH, Stoudts, Chimay, Corsendonk, Wittekerke, Delirium Tremens and many others). Some beers sold as 4 or 6 packs, others are just singles on the shelf or in the cooler. I suspect they would break a 6 pack if we wanted to try a beer before committing to the entire 6 pack. Prices also seem competitive. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. | | nick76 (76), Tampa, Florida | | February 16, 2007 [ Updated May 12, 2009 ] This is one of those reviews that I want to delete but I don’t know how. | | NYHarvey (124), New York, New York | | October 17, 2006 A very friendly couple owns the store and the beer selection is fairly decent for the area. It’s sort of in between Oldsmar/Westchase area and if you live in westchase it’s probably the best selection close to you. Lots of Matta’s beers from Unique and now I’ll have to go back out there to swee what this damn article is all about. | | matta (91), Tampa, Florida | | October 4, 2006 Hahahah!
It is true… there is a Matt A. related newspaper article by the register. It is craft beer related… it is misquoted… but Hey… I Made The Paper!
This is a great little spot. They have modest pricing on their brews and it is about as Mom & Pop a store as they come! I love to support the little guys! …BTW, they still have some 05 Penn Christmas Bock left, and it has aged VERY nicely! Just don’t get one that has been sitting directly next to the light… that never turns out good!
| | Ibrew2or3 (161), Safety Harbor, Florida | | October 2, 2006 [ Updated October 3, 2006 ] This place is out on Race Track Road between Linebaugh Ave and Countryway BLVD. The owner Penny Floyd was working when I stopped by. She was real nice and helpful. The beer is allotted the smallest amount of space compared to the hard stuff and wine. The store has a smaller beer selection than say, Grand Cru, Countryside Liquors or Harr’s Surf & Turf. There is a nice small selection of micros such as Avery, DFH, Flying Dog, Great Divide and a few others. It has an even smaller selection of singles. Probably less than 10 non macro. I’m not sure yet where they are on pricing but it didn’t look out of line. I bought a four pack of 12 oz Great Divide Hercules IIPAs for $11.59. This place has the additional bonus of a genuine matta newspaper clipping posted near the cash register. It seems to be craft beer related. I was on my lunch break so I didn’t have time to really read it. Hopefully next time. I do not recommend driving out of your way to come here. |
