RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
Fun atmosphere and good food. Open for lunch and close to Ybor nightlife on weekends. Regular brews: Red Eye Ale, Jack the Quaffer Porter, Wild Warthog Wiezen, Old Elephant Foot IPA, Moose Killer Barley Wine, Iron Rat Stout, True Blonde Ale, One Night Stand Pale Ale. Most folks around here love this place as it is one of the only real brewpubs in central Florida! I like the Moose Killer Barleywine, but its rather sweet. The food is good. Watched a guy down what had to be a 2 lb. portion of meatloaf.

Editor (Aurelius): After visiting this brewpub myself, I’ve got to upgrade this to essential for a Tampa visitor. The food is great. The beer is generally very good, with a wide variety of taps -- my sampler came with 14 different beers and one root beer. Short walk to other nightlife, hand-rolled cigars. Very accessible from I-4.

One of my favourite spot to go to for a beer in Ybor City. Take advantage of the outside bar or their mug club. Recently, the food has gotten a little pricier. The quality is far above the average bar/pub food and I have alwasy found it to be very diversified. They use some of their beers to cook. Great food (love the hamburgers, cheese ale dip), many lunch specials. Friendly staff always ready to help. Most of the bartenders know their beers and will make good recommendations. The brewmaster can sometimes be found outside sipping on a beer and always open to discussion and questions. A wide variety of beers, from blonde to stout with the occasional special / seasonal are often available. Place can get a little hectic on Friday & Saturday nights. A beer lover’s place one has to visit when touring the Tampa area.

Visited TBB in March 2008 on a Saturday afternoon. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and the food selection was very good. Beer selection was limited beyond the TBB beers, and most of those were nothing to write home about. Overall, if you are looking for a brewpub atmosphere in the Ybor area, this one won’t disappoint too much. Most of the waitstaff didn’t really seem to know beer beyond what they are trained to say about their own.

Very good start to a nice evening in Ybor. I couldn’t decide on which beer to start with, so I tried the sampler. Total of 10 beers, two were cask, the Iron Rat was my favorite. Had a burger, it was good. Our waiter was excellent, great advice on the beers.

Burgers were the best I ever had. There were 7 their own brews on tap, including a barleywine, plus some guest beers. Porter was good, but did not care for Stout. Was disappointed cask ale only available Thursday night, while it lasts. Ybor city nice area to visit - Columbia restaurant two blocks away definitely worth a visit.

Wide selection of beer styles, some good and some not so good. The food offerings are better than average. The rain kept me from enjoying the outside bar area. Parking could be an issue, still would be worth your time.

Wow am I glad I found this place! I am new to the area and LOVE good beer and brewpubs and this place makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over. I was told to watch out for Ybor City but found it to be a great place to come and with the valet right outside the door of the restaurant it couldnt have been any easier. I knew I was going to enjoy the evening when my server started explaining the beer selection ( and boy what a selection ) when I asked if there were other choices my server smiled and said they had a few guest beers but that theirs was all I needed because they were so good (and he wasn’t wrong). I had a fantastic pizza after enjoying my cheese and ale dip, meet some very nice regulars and look forward to hanging out at the pub alot in the future.

I’m still a little miffed that they moved it to the more commercial location, but their microbrews are still of high quality. Their food seems to have gotten better since the move, the Calzone’s are incredible. I recommend sitting at the bar to get the highest beer service. It is walking distance from the trolley, parking garage, movie theater, and Game Works. The best place to go if in Ybor City or Channelside (take the trolley). the guest beers are also of the highest quality, such as having Maudite on tap.

Located in a nice/hip area of Tampa. They had 7 regular beers on tap as well as an ESB on cask. 7 guest taps as well (Sierra Nevada, Hoegarten, Maudite, etc). They make their own root beer. Standard brew pub feel with a nice outdoor seating area. The menu was what you would expect from a brew pub (sandwiches, burgers, pizza and some entrees). Sampler glasses seemed to be about 3 oz. Average to just above average beer. The Buffalo Chicken sandwich I got was excellent.

A nice brewpub in Centro Ybor, which is one of those indoor/outdoor shopping malls designed to pull the tourists in- which it does rather well, like similar development projects in other cities. Anyway, they have an outdoor bar to complement the main brewpub inside, which is a nice touch. Service was very good- female bartender was knowledgable about beer as well as friendly and attentive. They had a total of 10 beers on tap when I was there- 8 regulars including an IPA, Impy Stout, and Barleywine, which isn’t common among brewpubs. More importantly, all the beer I tried was clean, and were good representations of their style, with a few being excellent. Food was also very good. If I lived in the Tampa area I know I would be here quite a bit. Agree with the guides rating of essential- you won’t find a better brewpub in this area.

Nice brewpub setting. Food was just awesome - we had a burger and a calzone, both of which were great. There were about eight of their own beers on tap plus about six others. We tried a few of their own brews, which were all pretty solid.
