Small place, but a huge selection. Staff were very helpful in recommending French craft beers. Prices were good; better than similar places in Paris.

In a city of beers, this bar offers no more than one would expect. Given its high rating it was on my list, but I only had one beer! It’s clean, the clientele is friendly but it had a manufactured feel about it. It was not on my list for my second visit to Lille.

Visited on a Sunday night to watch France beat Honduras 3-0. Fairly quiet place, with almost no reaction when France scored (I sense it’s not that kind of pub, and in fact the bargirl muttered under her breath at the end "finally I can play some music").
Place is small with about 10 beers on draft. Most seemed to be quite tame pales, blonds and a house bitter with one 11% for the more adventurous. Was hoping for some great new French craft from someone like Mont Saleve or a hoppy IPA, but felt a bit disappointed by the selection.
There are some bottle fridges mixing cult classics with the likes of De Molen, Brewdog, de Dolle, De La Senne, some regional stuff and bizarrely quite a few Christmas beers.. but prices seemed a bit high for me.
Service: the one guy was in no hurry to serve anyone, and seemed more concerned with finishing his conversations than seeing to the one person clearly waiting too long at the bar. Happened every time. The bargirl spoke good English and explained the selections well.
Overall.. this place is ok, but could be much better

The best place in Lille to drink a good beer in Lille. You can find always a good selection of beers. With 12 taps you have the choice! The bar is cozy and it’s a pleasure to drink a beer on this bar.
Recently they added 2 cask, and the first beer on tap is a bitter beer made for La Capsule in collaboration with Daniel Thiriez from Brasserie Thiriez.
La Capsule tries also to make events as meet brewers events or a special brewery day. That’s a really nice concept! Thanks guys!

Good music - Modern & Classic Rock in the evening easier stuff like Beach Boys during the daytime. Laid back relaxed place to be with a student type crowd. It gets busy but not for long as most of the clientele go outside every 15 minutes to smoke. Snacks are simple and appropriate - Saucisson Sec for €5, Cheese for €2/3. Not so many French beers on tap. Those available in bottle are quite expensive at €5-6 for 330ml. Tap beers are better value. Typically €3.50 for 25cl or €6 for 50cl.

Nice bar well located in Le Vieux Lille. We went there for the opening on a Saturday. Place wasn’t too crowded, music wasn’t too loud and there was Rugby on tv, so it was quite nice. Interior is beautiful. Service was friendly. There was 12 taps, including Cantillon Vigneronne and a couple of other very nice beers, including one from Struise. Decent bottle selection too. There’s no bottle list though, but they seems to have a lot of fresh/changing stuff so it’s understandable. Price are good (Vigneronne was 5 Euros for 25 cl) on some stuff and a little high on other, but in general the price are really fair. A great bar, and just few steps away from the other place you can’t miss when in Lille: L’Abbaye des Saveurs.

Not hard to find & close to anything central in Lille. This place looked way more rundown than expected. Non-matching partially broken chairs that appear to have been reclaimed from a high school, totally worn wood with varnish coming off, paint flaking on the walls, every piece of wood has marks,… This is a bit closer to two shootings away from being a heroin den than charming. The place nicely filled out with people & they were playing the entire “Master of Puppets” album which was quite nice. +/- 12 beers on tap, indicated on a board. Tap list was very interesting & varied, 3 or so solid French beers, one De Molen, one Brewdog, one Haandbrygerriet plus some nice Belgian fare. Very well chosen list because it covers all bases from 2.9 % ABV to 15.2 % ABV, saison, IPA, barley wine etc. Great stuff there. Sadly there was no beer list for the bottled beer or we didn’t get one because I see other reviews mentioning a vintage list. For bottles I just looked what they had in the fridge which was fine, a list would have been nice because apparently they have some stuff in the cellar & I am not psychic. The stuff in the fridge looked interesting, mix of very nice offerings from BE / NL / FR / DE / UK etc. Found some interesting FR beers which are not in the majority but France isn’t much of beer country so that is understandable. Interesting to see no Mont Salève here which I think is one of the very few truly great French brewers. The selection isn’t the biggest but they had plenty of interesting beers which were new to me which is great & the beers that they had which I had already had, in many cases I wouldn’t mind drinking them all night long. As usual Quality > Quantity. Prices were good and very reasonable & service was good by BE standards. This is obviously head and shoulders from anything that you would expect beer-wise in France but than again this is not that far from the Belgian border. Beer selection would be quite impressive in Belgium as well. It would be nice if they refurbished it because I wasn’t sure if I needed to do drugs here or drink craft beer by the looks of it. It is possibly that I am just being a cry-baby since all of the regulars and plenty of the visitors are perfectly fine with the way it looks.
