| sebletitje (78), Tampa, Florida | | December 15, 2008 Place did not open until 4pm.
The overall setting looks old and like it could use a good paint job.
I was interested to find out more about some of the beers and overall feel of the place. One thing I learned about travels is that you can always tell the overall standing of a place by how clean the bathrooms are, and sure enough, the place disappointed me.
Bathrooms were dirty, after observing the way the kitchen staff was carrying itself and peeking in their fridge, I promptly decided to pass on the food menu.
Decided to turn my attention to the beer menu. Sadly enough, they only keep 4 beers on tap, with a weekly cask.
Beers were ok, with an impressive mocha porter. What is even more strange is that they have triple the selection on bottles. Odd indeed for a brewpub to promote its beers.I left very disappointed and never thought twice about going back. It is worth visiting and getting a beer sampler, but with the standing of Trappeze right down the road, Copper Creek really pales in comparison. | | Hank1980 (37), Athens, Georgia | | October 2, 2008 [ Updated April 2, 2009 ] Copper Creek is a nice brewpub in downtown Athens. Food & beer are reasonablly priced, staff is friendly, and crowd is laid back. Casks on the first Wed of the month. Brewer is usually accessable and always at cask night. Definitely worth a visit during an Athens beer tour. | | BeerloverEJ21 (10), Georgia | | December 16, 2007 Copper Creek is a must when I go up to Athens. As long as the lines aren’t too huge, the mood is very chill and the ambiance is really relaxing. Got a rustic-spanish look going on inside. The beer is great, although the selection isn’t huge. The food was pretty good. Overall, a great place to hang out and have a couple pints. | | donrajin (47), Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina | | March 7, 2007 The beer on tap was good, but the sad part was there was only 3 to choose from. They did sell other breweries beer in the bottle. Best I can remember was about 8 and a few decent to choose from. The food was decent and the bar tender was very nice. It was pretty much a local croud at the bar. Not a bad experience, I just wish they had more of there beer to choose from. | | Cmycoskie (13), Georgia | | December 8, 2006 Love this place. If you are considering living in Athens and you love beer, this place would be a good reason to move. They always rotate 4 different beers with American Pale Ale and Oatmeal Stout being up on the board the most. Also, great good, try the buffalo burger or any of the appitizers. Go on Tuesdays for 2 doller pints. | | beerist (10), Athens, Georgia | | April 19, 2006 I don’t know why everyone seems to be down on this place. I have been to Copper Creek many, many times and haven’t ever had a "bad" experience. The service is usually good and the food’s good as well. They rotate 4 beers, usually 1 porter or stout on nitro and 3 others. During busy times of the year (when the students are in town) they’ll almost have 1 or 2 new beers on each week - which I like. They tap a cask (or 2) on the first Wednesday evening of every month now. They do only serve their high-gravity beers on Monday, but their "standard" lineup is certainly nothing to scoff at. I actually prefer a lot of the "regular" offerings to the "high gravity" ones. If you come during happy hour the beers are only $2.25. Overall I really like the place and go back because I have a consistently good experience. | | NachlamSie (209), Tennessee | | February 26, 2006 It really is obnoxious that this place only sells their best beer on Mondays. Pretty standard brewpub otherwise. Typical ales on draught with a pleasant enough atmosphere. I enjoyed my visit well enough to consider it worth my time. | | jimbowood (22), Athens, Georgia | | January 14, 2006 I live in Athens and this place always frustrates me. They only serve high gravity brews on Monday nights and only during the colder months. Stupid. 4 house beers always on draft and all are always true to style but are never inventive or ground breaking. Consistently average. | | legion242 (78), Richardson, Texas | | March 15, 2005 Well, I really expected a lot more. Thisplace definitely had potential, but so many aspects lacked: the bartender could not have been more disinterested in talking to me about he beer (and I am the one person who knows how not to beat someone’s ass about details). When asked for a tshirt and told that they only have one color in XL, I asked what other colors they had in L- he never bothered to come back with the info. I didn’t eat here ’cause I didn;t want to deal with this guy anymore. The beer? It was ok, but not stellar. Not enough to make up fo rthe asshole bartender. |
