| mcrowther (10), ATLANTA, Georgia | | November 19, 2009 This used to me one of my hangouts, but recently they have reduced the selection of house beers to 3- Jordan is a good brewer, I hope he starts brewing more beers again. The ones that are on tap are always excellent- but this is really more of an upscale pool hall and a lot of the patrons are swilling Bud or some other dreck. Food and service are good, be sure and go here if you are in the neighborhood visiting the nearby legendary Brick Store. | | lithy (93), Knoxville, Tennessee | | November 17, 2009 Helpful staff gave me good directions over the phone when I got a little mixed up. Awesome chicken wrap, hot fries, superb honey mustard. Three house beers available on tap, maybe 8 guest taps, 3 or 4 house beers available in bottles, tons of other bottles available. Beers were solid. Lots of tables available to shoot pool. Loved the Balls (men) and Racks (women) restrooms. | | AtlAggie (11), Atlanta, Georgia | | June 8, 2009 Great atmosphere, solid list of beers (both their own brews and others), solid menu. A big, fun place to hang with friends on any given night, with all sorts of bar games to offer distraction as needed. Recommended if you’re looking for a place to kick back with a group of friends and play and drink the night away. | mikespad (1), Georgia does not count - explanation | | May 2, 2009 [ Updated May 3, 2009 ] The house beers are usually interesting. Constantly though they advertise house selections on the chalkboard behind the bar that they are actually totally out of. Why they don’t go erase them when they are out? Several times there was a very bad smell coming from behind the bar, reminded me of rotten tennis shoes. Sometimes the house beers just lack that certain "punch" or depth of character that I love in a good beer. But they aren’t ever bad tasting, really. House stuff just may not be as complex in taste as I would like. Wouldn’t say watered down like another rater said, but it does kind of describe the effect. Staff is pretty good, but I saw a bartender here have a guy arrested one night around last Thanksgiving, and that totally turned me off. The poor guy was just a bit too inebriated, and the bartender was being pushy and a little mean to him. Now the guy has a police record. Shame on the bartender for not resolving the situation otherwise. The owner and the brewmaster are very nice guys. | biglakeuga (2), Georgia does not count - explanation | | April 15, 2009 This place was better when they were a pool hall first and a brewery second (or rather, not at all). Their house brews are not excellent, but they improve constantly. The service at the bar is always good, but can be lacking through the servers and at the tables. Fun place, all in all. | | CheersMate1 (34), Atlanta, Georgia | | April 5, 2009 I have not had the food here, so I have no idea as to how good it actually is. With that being said, let me talk about the beer, and Twains itself. Decent place to go during the week. Fairly crowded brewpup during the weekend. A lot of 30+ year-old people loafing around. Some hot women seem to like this place. They do a decent job with their beers; the only problem is that many of them are watered down. Service can be excellent or crappy, it just depends on which server you get. Decent price for a 20 oz. glass. They always have a fairly good selection of beers they brew. | | Beershine (261), Where Climate Suits My Clothes, Vietnam | | February 3, 2009 I also think this was my favorite Atlanta brewpub. The atmosphere is great. It’s just really relaxed, the service is excellent, and there are a lot of fun games. It’s cool seeing people kick back and have a good time. Very diverse crowd. Laid-back, lived-in, and roomy. Local bands play here too. The variety and quality of the beers would keep me coming back to Twain’s. | | Oakes (421), gone rambling, Vietnam | | January 29, 2009 Fun place. Big and open with a lot of different games, like shuffleboard and bubble hockey. Wide range of house beers was fairly inventive and generally well-made. Twain’s was the top brewpub in ATL in my book, for both atmosphere and beer selection. | | BlackDonald (59), Boise, Idaho | | August 7, 2008 I was curious how they would fit a brewpub in this place having previously visited before it was a brewery. Once I was there I realized. There used to be two pool rooms, one was smoking and the other non smoking. Having taken out the upper pool room, to put in a new bar and brewery. The beers were pretty decent and made to style, but nothing more than on the level of a advanced homebrewer. Other beer selection is still really good, food is always hit or miss, but they have an atentive, albeit somewhat quirky bartender. Sucks about the jukebox though, used to tbe one of the best in town. | Wharfrat (2), does not count - explanation | | April 27, 2008 This is a nice brewpub. Pool tables and a good bar atmosphere. The house brews are good, but not great. |
