November 28, 2009 Beautiful location by the Spree River in the cosy Nikolaiviertel, former part of East Berlin Lots of atmosphere in the many wooden rooms inside. My Bauernsuppe was delicious and the service friendly. However, the brewpubs two beers, a hell and a dunkel, were only so and so. You come here for the food and scenery rather than the beers (visited 21.11.2009). |

November 20, 2009 Nice old building. Looks food dominated from the outside but a lot more pubby once you get inside. I can see how this could be a tourist trap, bearing in mind the location but the clientele was almost entirely German when we visited. The constant procession of Schweinhaxe and Eisbein coming out of the kitchen suggested he food is popular but, despite being a fan all German pork knuckle variation, we were due to eat elsewhere so I had to pass on the food. Service was swift and efficient, if perfunctory. Just two of their own beers available and unfortunately, neither was very good. As they rarely make anything else and other reviews suggest it wasn’t just an off day I doubt I’ll be back. Beware of the toilet attendant expecting payment (one point off the service for that). |

November 14, 2009 Big place - lot s of small "rooms" - not many customers. 2 different beers - both bad. Didn’t have the food. I won’t come back. |

I liked the look of the place but the selection was only 2 beers. A hell and a dunkel. I didn’t eat but the food looked good. Prices were decent. The place was ok but not the best I’ve been to. |

October 12, 2009 Visited 01/10/09. Busy place with decent German food on offer - the Schweinshaxe was very tasty. Beer was ok if not hugely memorable. Well placed on the river. |

June 5, 2009 Excellent setting near the river in Nikolaivetel.
Wide external and inner space. Rather modest chose of beers. Multilanguage menù with some Berliner’s specialty. Pleasant stay during the summer. Available and kindly staff but the service is not particularly express. |

May 15, 2009 it blew.... Everyone talked so highly of this place but I thought it was a dump. Lots of beers but all out of shape. |

December 26, 2008 A nice brewpub by the river and visited on a cold rainy day...and such is Berlin. Definitely didnt detract visitors though as every man and his dog were there. The beers were OK but didnt stay for long after the brew was sampled. |

June 12, 2008 I am a bit ambivalnet to this place. It has a very nice location near the Spree river in central Berlin, but subsequently it is a lso a major tourist place. We luckily found a table and was set for having dinner, but when we were informed that the food was going to take at half an hour, an honesty that i appreciated. We settled with trying their beers. I would like to come back here off the tourist season. |
