| pivnizub (216), Porúří, Germany | | May 14, 2008 18 beers on draught! That sounds great! But when you come closer, You’ll find the usual suspects in this quite drab Altstadt-pub. They claim to serve Hofbräu Delicator !? A beer You can’t get in Munich or elsewhere in Germany......... | | DSG (39), Yuvalim, Israel | | January 23, 2008 [ Updated August 18, 2008 ] I was here on an August afternoon and me and another guy were the only customers at this time. There was no music and the place was rather quiet. The staff only consisted of a grumpy old bartender. I asked him for the menu, and then asked for the Schlenkerla Rauchbier, the reply was ’’the Rauchbier is gone’’. I asked if any of the other beers aren’t available anymore, so he said Kulmbacher Eisbock - the two beers I wanted to try the most aren’t available. Oh well, after I knew I can get all other beers besides the ones he mentioned I asked for some Maibock - Well now, he already seemed really irritated and angrily said ’’only in season!’’. Anyway, I ended up drinking a Hofbräu München Delicator Doppelbock (appears on one of the menus as Kulmbacher Delicator) and a Diebels Alt. The beers were nice, but the overall experience wasn’t that great. | | eaglefan538 (90), Wilmington, Delaware | | January 18, 2008 Arrived at the Biermuseum with much excitement and anticipation, couldn’t want to get some rare goodies here, per their website and other reviews. Unfortunately, of the beers I selected, none were available until I got down to the Reichelbrau Eisbock, which who knows what it was, pretty nasty in the bottle I got (only beer I ever contemplated pouring, while in Germay, and did so into the trees/bushes by our outdoor table). Pretty upsetting experience from a place that was supposed to have 18 exciting taps and more thna 10 bottles or something like that. The service wasn’t even that friendly or helpful. The outdoor seating area was relaxing, but the food only mediocre, the actual beer inventory much less exciting than the list. | | gnoff (80), Göteborg, Sweden | | January 14, 2007 Fairly nice selection, though not very cosy and quite a lot of smoke. Couldn’t get in during the night when I had a back pack on, and no possibility to leave it guarded, they wanted me to leave it in the street... | | Pub (74), Banbury, England | | November 3, 2005 A must visit only because it is near Salzgasse and the beer range is something different, otherwise avoid. Loud music with completely unknowing staff. Tha Rauchbier was classic though and you can sit near the back with the open door to the Carpark. What is the carvings on the wall in the carpark all about? 3 tour parties came to look and giggle, one of the men in it is obviously having a ’hard’ time. Dirty and scruffy but good for ratings. | | ChristianSA (16), Copenhagen, Denmark | | April 7, 2005 In the weekend there is very loud music and a lot of even louder people, which can be nice if you are in the mood. However if you want to go to a place to meditate over some good beer - this is not for you, as it is simply to distracting. In the summer you can move into the biergarten. On weekdays the place is dark and a bit smelly (smoke and old beer) but quiet. The staff does not seem to be very concerned about the beer. The selection is pretty good with 18 beers on tap and 28 on bottle. Unfortunately most of them is crap lager from all over the world. But having Schlenkerla Rauchbier and Einbeck Urbock on tap saves the day after all those pale kölsches. | | Nate (175), Indiana, Pennsylvania | | July 8, 2004 My brother remembered this place from his study abroad. Dive bar, loud music, and an interesting crowd when we went. Good tap selection, including Schlenkerla, Hofbrau Delicator Doppelbock, Kulmbacher Eisbock, and a few locals. Chimay Bleu in bottles, and some other imports. |
