| KyotoLefty (81), Kyoto, Japan | | September 21, 2008 My favorite Koelsch. A nice place, very plain and simple, but that provides a nice authentic feeling. A bit of a hike from the station, but worth it. | | donrajin (47), Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina | | September 15, 2008 I stopped in just for a beer. It was just before lunch so it wasn’t crowded. It was getting that way just before I left. The atmosphere was nice and the beer was great. It is my 2nd favorite next to Fruh. | | pivnizub (223), Porúří, Germany | | May 14, 2008 Typical Brauhaus, half panelled with high ceilings, not so big as many others in Cologne. Often very crowded, but the fresh Kölsch (sometimes very good, sometimes a bit boring) is worth a detour ! | | DSG (39), Yuvalim, Israel | | January 23, 2008 [ Updated August 18, 2008 ] I was here some late August day, around noon. A nice little place, just across the square from Pfaffen. There weren’t a lot of people when I was there, so it was very quiet, and fortunately the ones who were there didn’t smoke. Service was friendly. The highlight of this place is the great Kölsch they serve, definitely the best I’ve had in Köln. It’s worth coming here only to taste this great Kölsch fresh. | | Rastacouere (413), Montréal, Quebec | | June 9, 2007 A dark brown restaurant, smaller than most in the city and frankly not as charming. The Kölsch is quite good. Very busy place just out of the main touristy neighborhood and seemingly packed with as many locals as travellers. Not very friendly service, but quick and efficient. | | gnoff (80), Göteborg, Sweden | | January 14, 2007 Nice place with a good Kölsch. Quite crowded and hard to find a non-reserved seating. But for a quick Kölsch they managed to squeeze me in. | | MrGrumpy (13), Crawley, England | | October 29, 2006 With Fruh Dom the best Kolsch in Koln. I liked the ambience there too, but, like most German bars, too smoky for me. But sufferable when the beer is so good. | | fonefan (23), Ulfborg, Denmark | | October 16, 2006 Sampled some Mühlen Kölsch here. Good service. Crowded when we went here | | acrdz (544), Boulder, Colorado | | June 21, 2006 The last place visited during my 2-day stay in Koln. As said before, you have to cross the tram tracks and a nightmare of an intersection in order to reach this place, but it’s basically visible from the Huemarkt. Inside, around dinner time, it was PACKED, there was literally no place to sit, and since I was just there to try the Kolsch, I stood near the back where they dispensed the beer from the wooden keg. The quality of the Kolsch was average. The workers were polite, and the ambiance was generally jovial and fun... a lot of big parties were dining and drinking here. Worth a visit if you’re trying all the Kolsch in town. | | imdownthepub (74), Banbury, England | | November 3, 2005 Firstly you have to cross a nightmare series of roads to get to it from Alt Markt, you are ready for a beer when you get in. We had developed strategies for quick service by the time we got to this one, but they all failed, its one of the biggest bugbears of the beerhalls we visited in Cologne. Very agreeable pub though, big and roomy with plenty to look at and believe me you will have the time. More than made up with the Kolsch though and spent an enjoyable couple of hours in there. | View Page : 1 2
