Used the U-5 stop Kostablerwiche. Dark textured maroon ceiling and light yellow walls with framed artwork of outdoor scenes. Non-smoking inside! Dark tan tiled floors with dark wood hand-hewn beams. Open since ~1976. Numerous blocked wood doors in walls. Square 2-top and 4-top tables with blue linen tableclothes. Walnut padded chairs. Hanging lamps and potted palnts. Brewhouse visible at rear of room. English language menus available. Tasty cheese platter. but slow service. Mellow music. Futbol on TV. Downstairs keller. Growlers to go. House beers of Blonde and Dunkles.

Visited this place last summer. I had a few hours in Frankfurt and was quite upset I’m not gonna find this place because I had no map of Frankfurt, but eventually I just stumbled upon it. I was the only customer (it was noon) and I got a rather friendly service. I had a baked potato with sour cream which was nice. The beers are OK but really nothing special.

Visited on Oct. 17 2007. Both beers were infected and dissapointing. However, the food menu was nice, with good lunch specials and attentive service. For 7 euros, I had a good soup, varied meats main course, and a nice ice cream for desert. Only go if your in town and for lunch. Frankfurt is a rather dissapointing beer destination.

Zwölf Apostel can be found at the corner of Rosenberg strasse and Elefantengasse in the innerstadt of Frankfurt a.m. There is a restaurant upstairs with the hausbrauerei downstairs in dark brown, but cosy cellar. Their two regular brews – a Dunkel and a Hell – are very middle-of-the-road in aroma and taste. I was informed by the barman that both had alcohol strength of 3.8% (visited 17.09.2007).

Cosy atmosphere, classig German brewpub. The beers are good but not exceptional, the food was quite common.

The last brewpub I visited in Germany, in February 2002. I only got the feel of a quaint little restaurant, but looking at the webpage, they must have a hidden more beery basement! They only had 2 beers, but they were both pretty good and the staff was quite friendly. It was hard to find, I struggled in "Germlish" to get the taxi driver to find it! I’ll go back when I have the opportunity.
