54 Sort of nice outside in summer, inside not such a good atmosphere... big halls and in need of some refreshing. Value is nice, quality, service are ok-good. Most locals prefer the "Vogelbräu" beer to theirs. The taste of their main beer, the "Helles" seems to fluctuate between grainy and good.
Overall not an exciting place, but why not cool down here on a hot summer day? It’s quite some way from the center of Karlsruhe, but ample parking space close-by and there’s a small creek and a short walk to a park, so something to relax... |
54 This is a big place. At my visit the whole place smelled of brew mash. The service wasn’t attentive, men the kitchen was fast in preparing the meals. Maybe a bit too fast because the schnitzels were not good. The beers were the usual hell, dunkel and weizen (this was a summer visit). The dunkel was good and the others so so. |
60 Big beer hall with a big football screen and medieval banquet. Beer was quite good, ambiance a bit uncomfortable.

60 A large beer hall attached to the brewery in the western suburbs. A standard range of their beers on tap and often a seasonal on too, all good quality. Worth a visit. As it was poring with rain when I visited the large beer garden was closed! |
68 More a restaurant than a brewery, large. Crowded by locals having their lunch, which is not a surprise as prices are quite low and portions are good. They had 3 beers on tap (and bottled), tried one and purchased the others. Afterall this is lunch time. When you go down to the toilettes, you walk right into the brewery. I did not try the pilsener. |
84 Both Helles and Dunkles were enjoyable. The food menu is interesting in that you can order many dishes in a variety of sizes. I had a Bierbrauensteak of "medium" size which consisted of two pretty big grilled pork steaks slathered with fried onions and topped with fried eggs; a large portion of Bratkartoffel completed the feast. I am a big eater but this was plenty for me. God knows what you get if you order the XXL size; it sounds like something only Texans would eat on their own. The garlic cream soup is also recommended. A bit out of the way but surely the best brewpub in Karlsruhe. |
