February 24, 2008 An OK place, serving some beers that are worth seeking out. The place itself is nothing terribly special, and the service is just OK. The food is good, though, and I especially recommend the dumplings, served with parmesan cheese. (Basically a Russian specialty, imported from China.) |
November 25, 2007 I came here to try to Dollnitzer Ritterguts Gose on tap, and stayed for a nice warm bowl of risotto.
Nice food, friendly service, and this great rare beer on tap in glassware designed specifically for it. Wonderful. |
May 31, 2006 [ Updated June 22, 2006 ] One of the few bars in Leipzig which tourists should make an effort to find. Low lighting, soothing vertical stripes on the walls, modern decoration meshing with hardwood floors, multi-levelled layout. Music is eclectic but generally mainstream. Empty during the day, can get crowded in the evening, though.
If you’re here, you’re drinking Gose from the tap, that’s all there is to it. There are 8-10 beers to choose from, and this is probably the only place in the country that serves all three varieties of German wheats – bottles of Hefeweizen (Franz.) and Berliner Weiße (B. Kindl), Leipziger Gose on tap (the Döllnitzer).
As for the food, lots of regional specialties here, but as a general rule the smaller dishes are better than the larger. Located just outside the city ring, a five minute westerly walk from the Thomaskirche, in a "pub mile". Nearest tram stop is Gottschedstraße; it can be seen from Sinfonie’s windows. |
