It’s a bit of a venture to get there, but it’s worth it. Make sure to get there well before 1600 and to eat if you want to drink the beers as half liters instead of the massiva mass, especially for the strong bock one... Nice atmosphere, good food and good beers. I especially like the pilsissimus very much.

No busy, bustling beer-hall like in Munich’s city-centre, on the contrary: this suburban, three-room ( partly in the style of the 30’s, the time when the brewery was founded) brew-pub is quite cosy. The non-touristy atmosphere makes You feel more to sit in the brewer’s living-room than in a certain Hofbräuhaus......
The main attraction are the superb beers, which are served only in 1 litre Steins by one of the matronly waitresses; in summer there’s also a small beer-garden next to a local railway, pleasant, but sometimes You’ll think that all the local trains are running across Your table.....
The food is fairly basic bavarian fodder.
Conclusion: A trip to Munich without a visit of the Forschungsbrauerei is rather incomplete !
