Visited their biergarten in the afternoon last week, there were only a few other visitors there when we came in. Nice quiet courtyard with a fountain, lots of tables, unfortunately all plastic and I strongly dislike that. If I go to a Biergarten I want long wooden tables. The place consists of 3 main areas, of which one is a small pub serving their housebeer and showing soccer matches. The other two are dining areas, containing lots of wood. Very nicely done. I would love to visit this place when it’s more crowded or in winter time. Staff is friendly, beers are OK. Didn’t try the food.

As the place is still open on Sunday at midnight, and there are quite a few people around, we can say that it attracts the people of the surrounding, mainly young crowds. It’s bigger than the usual tiny German keller bräuhaus, bigger surface, bigger biergarten the interior is nice, trying to copy the traditional one (it may be some 10 years old). They have 3 reasonable beers, served too cold luckily they have these small glass, 2dl, and the waiter is kind enough to pour just half in them the Hell is more bitter than the regional sweet one, the other two are too ordinary. Overall, a place where I would go back, if not for the beers.

Had a work Christmas party here, nice atmosphere with pretty good food. The prices were pretty high for a buffet. The beer was extremely well done as far as German micros go. This place could be hard to fins without planning!

It’s a bit far off the beaten tourist path, on the Olwigerstrasse that houses a lot of wineries and hotels, right next to the Reislingstrasse. Our hotel was right up the street, and we reserved a late dinner so we took a walk to check out more wineries and stumbled upon this place by sheer luck. It’s in a hotel/restaurant complex. The brewpub is in a corner, with a small bar and a few high tables, the brass kettles were in plain view in fornt of the window. They dropped down a screen and a few locals in their 20s were watching a soccer game. There was a screen mesh ceiling with hop bags, mugs and bottles hung all over the place. The waiter seemed more intrested in the game than serving us, but we eventually got our orders in. 3 Beers on tap, a Helles, a Weizen and a Dunkle, served in 0.3L mugs. I enjoyed the latter of the three, and took a liter of Weizen to go (dirt cheap!) that I also liked a lot. Trier is definately wine country, and it was probably one of our favorite stops in Germany. The fact that we found this place, and that the Beers were pretty good, only made the day even better.

The brewpub (or Hausbrauerei) is situated in nice surroundings in the outskirts of the beautiful German town Trier, one of the oldest in the whole country. From the city centre, Trier Porta Nigra, it is about 30 minutes walk to Trier-Olewig weinort where the Kraft-Bräu is located next to the hotel Blesius Garten. It is possible to take the bus (no.6) from the railway station to the Olewig, but if you walk you can always visit the old Amphitheatre and have a look at all the wine grapes trees along the way. Next to the brewpub there is a lovely beer garden where the three brews can be enjoyed. Their regular beers are a Weizen, a Hell and, the most interesting one, a Dunkel. The brewpub is also an outlet for their beers on bottles, which come in different sizes. Kraft-Bräu, listed in the GBG, is definitely worth a visit in this wine dominated part of the country (Visited 12.09.2007).
