A place that doesn’t reach its potential. They have a great range of beers available here, mostly on cask (both handpump and gravity) and bottles. Unfortunately, the gravity beer has [in my experience] consistently been in poor condition. Not too surprising since it tends to be pretty warm inside, which is not doing the gravity casks any favours. Also, this place vents their casks in the toilet, which can’t be optimal. But the range is impressive and they get some unique beers that a punter might not find elsewhere. The prices are reasonable and the staff is adequate. The ambiance is laid-back, and the decor is mostly ramshackle. I’m torn about this place. I really want to like it but they just haven’t delivered yet for me.

Beer Rebellion is a Pop-Up beer bar from the guys behind Late Knights brewery. It is located in a former shop just outside Gipsy Hill Train Station. It’s relatively small 2-room affair upstairs with larger basement downstairs which resembles my grandmother’s lounge. They offer 8 ales on cask gravity and 1 hand-pull cider. The draught selection is rather different than the rest of the area (& London for that matter). Plenty of random small breweries (Brighton Bier, Baseline etc) coupled with more local Late Knights brews. I do find the condition of some of the gravity stuff variable at times. Better more recently. They also carry a small, but varied bottle list. Beer is served in old-school dimpled mugs. At weekends they also serve burgers. Great chilled atmosphere. A great little place.

I liked this place. Nice and relaxed, good selection of bottles, 8 gravity beers from London brewers. They do three 1/3 tasters for the same price as a pint (£3.20) so seems pretty good value. Bottle prices were good too. Hope they do well enough to become permanent (if that is what they want to do).

this pop up idea could be a good one,but at this particular bar it is not quite yet! even though the place has been open about 2 months(which i found out later),the feeling i got was that it was open about 2 hours...but then again i might of hit upon a guy working his first shift behind the bar

Cool little pop up pub located right across from Gypsy Hill station. 8 beers on gravity available as well as a bottle list of about 40 beers. Comfortable, friendly ambiance and layout. Most of the beer available was from London and the surrounding counties. Unfortunately the conditioning on the gravity stuff was a bit hit and miss. The prices were very cheap for London, especially the bottles. Service was quite friendly. Overall, I like the pop up pub trend. Hopefully London will see some more places like this in the coming year.

A new bar run by the Late Knights brewery people, with eight casks, five cider boxes and a range of interesting bottles. Beer Rebellion is directly opposite Gipsy Hill station. The main room is like an old fashioned shop, with a metal counter and eight casks stacked up opposite the bar. There’s also a cosy back room on the same level and a nice old fashioned sitting room downstairs which feels like being in someone’s private house. Outside there’s a small patio garden towered over by the building (four or five storeys high because it’s built on the side of the very steep Gipsy Hill) and a large sappy sycamore tree. I really liked this place, despite everything in the garden being so sticky with sap. The beers were good and the service was very friendly. (Visited 18 May 2013).
