| Rune (87), Tromsø, Norway | | May 21, 2009 Arriving by train from Liverpool we stopped here for lunch and a few pints. 12 casks ales, most of them from the Fullers range, but added by four interesting guest ales. Bottled beers from Fullers. My Fullers London Porter on cask was found to be in perfect shape. The food was alright, but far from great. Slow service by a rather negligent staff (visited 05.05.2009). | | Svesse (88), Hässelby, Sweden | | January 20, 2009 (Last visited late November 2008) Situated close to the entrance of Euston Station. Interior in brown wood and with views of the bus stops. Four Fullers beers and some guest beers. Sometimes the guest beers are not very interesting, but once in a while you strike gold (like this lovely Phoenix Firecracker). Good pub food is served. As is normally the case with station pubs, most of the clientele is waiting for a train or a bus, so it doesn’t really get that homely feel. It has lost some of its character (and several good quality guest beers) since the Fullers take over a couple of years ago. Still, it’s worth a stop if you’re in the area. | | TimE (130), Tokyo, Japan | | October 22, 2008 First day in England ever and visited here and they only had two beers I had not had before. Those two beers were decent, but really can’t recommend this place unless you happen to be standing in front of it and you know Bree Louise is closed. | | JoeMcPhee (262), Jackson Heights, New York | | September 21, 2008 Oddly laid-out bar in the Euston Tube/Railroad complex. About four Fullers casks and a similar number of guest casks. Sort of a mixed crowd with I was in...mostly commuters with nobody really all that interested in chatting with anyone else. The bartender didn’t really know what she was talking about, but she didn’t pretend to either. Okay spot, but there are better close by. | | FatPhil (121), Espoo, Finland | | July 14, 2008 When 1/2 of the clientele of a pub (about 4 from 8 total) are waiting at the bar for service, and failing to get it, whilst 3 members of staff wander aimlessly instead of serving, then you know something’s wrong. Interesting beer selection halved since Fullers took over, but an OK place to get a Fullers or Gales, and some pot luck on the 5 guest taps. Pleasant choo-choo theme still amuses. | | GuideDogSaint (10), Epsom, England | | June 23, 2008 Normally 8 pumps on (excluding the Westons) with 4 Fullers and 4 others which don’t tend to change that much. Summer Lightning, Norman Conquest, Batemans Mild seem to be on fairly often. Nice pub though and worth more than just a quick one before a train. | tashi (1), London, England does not count - explanation | | August 1, 2007 Doric Arch, upstairs by the bus stand outside. Fuller’s beers, some guests, generally well kept, staff friendly. Handy for the station, and worth the walk from Kings Cross or St Pancras if you have a train to catch (everywhere else round here is awful). Decent, filling meals. More eclectic railway junk than most rail-themed pubs. | | bhensonb (287), Woodland, California | | April 16, 2007 [ Updated July 17, 2008 ] There are usually 6 to 8 real ales. If you hit at a non-busy period, staff speaks. Have not been there to see a change of name. Hope it’s still got the great selections. Rerate from May 2008. Fullers has taken half the engines, but there were still five guest ales. | | Stine (59), St. Paul , Minnesota | | February 26, 2007 Visited in summer of 2006. Some interesting selections beside the usuals. From my stool at the bar I enjoyed a Cottage Norman’s Conquest while the pub went wild during a World Cup match. Struck me as kind of a hectic place with its location tucked right beside the train and tub stations. | | M0RHI (26), Luxembourg, Luxembourg | | February 5, 2007 The Doric Arch.
Visited on a Friday night while waiting for the sleeper. Was hoping it would be quieter, as I wasn’t feeling well, and all I wanted to do was sit back with a pint and watch the world drift by. It was hustle and bustle, with people waiting for trains and thus not staying long. Got a seat near the window, it was quite packed, and noisy, sat next to a man shouting at the top of his voice how much he loves "Landan Proyd". Good selection though, about 10 on, only managed to try one which was in good condition. OK, but the turnover of customers is high. |
