| SaintMatty (39), Tallinn, Estonia | | September 16, 2009 An excellent pub which is normally very busy. There is usually a vast array of cask ales available and as the pub is usually so busy, the turnover is quite high, so it’s not uncommon to make two visits in a day and see completely different beers available on your second visit. If you’re in London, this place has to be on your list of pubs to visit. | | fly (190), austin, Tejas, | | September 14, 2009 Giving an absolutely accurate rating would be pretty close to impossible for me as this was the last stop of a pub crawl. That said, the beer still tasted mighty fine and wouldn’t mind if I was back there now. | | joe19612 (17), camberley, England | | August 16, 2009 Went here on a Friday lunchtime before going to the GBBF. It was not to busy impressed with the range of beers available. | | Ober (28), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands | | August 13, 2009 A very pleasant and sociable pub. It’s clean place. We were there in the morning, but there where already a lot of people in the pub. They ’ve got a lot a different beers . The staff is very friendly. Next time in London, we’ll go back, to enjoy more beers and the meal. | | Rune (85), Tromsø, Norway | | August 10, 2009 This is, of course, one of the main attractions for ratebeerians visiting London. A wide and ever changing range of up to 16 hand pulled real ales. The pub is situated in an interesting beer area with Utobeer, The Rake and Beer Wharf just around the corner. The restaurant upstairs serves decent pub food. We had fish cakes, Orkney mussels and prawns to a reasonable price. A table by the window really gives the guests an impression of the busy Borough Market on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. After lunch we went down and sampled quite a few well kept British Ales, all served at a very pleasant drinking temperature (Saturday, 1st August 2009). | | pivnizub (273), Bochum, Porúří, Germany | | April 17, 2009 Nice pub close to the Borough Market with a broad - ever changing - selection of real ales. Gets very crowded during the market days. Absolutely worth a visit ! | | madmitch76 (10), , England | | April 16, 2009 Always a good selection of real ales here and they appear to look after them well. Most of them dry up very quickly and get no opportunity to go bad!
It gets very very crowded in here so be prepared to wait to be served at peak times (Fridays). In summer the punters will be spread outside all over the adjacent roads. The staff are polite but don’t have the time to stop and chat.
Just a stones throw from Utobeer and The Rake - this pub can complete a real beer geeks pub crawl. | | ilbarcige (13), , Italy | | March 28, 2009 Very good rotation of local british micros casks.
Good food. Crowded during the market days (fri-sat) | | BeerBiker (36), Kathmandu, Nepal | | March 9, 2009 Cozy afterworkplace and indeed a must. Lines of cask ales for hours of swallowing. I will visit again. | | Nightfall (26), Athens, Greece | | January 16, 2009 [ Updated January 20, 2009 ] Very nice Pub in Borough Market. Very busy most of the times. Some typical taps but also a nice selection of Casks (I was lucky the day we went with MagicDave6 and Mes and the selection was very good). a Must place to visit when in London. |
