RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
With wood paneling and a bit ragged around the edges, The Market Porter is an authentic pub which offers a changing range of beers - though the condition can sometimes be a bit dodgy. Atmospheric location is often used for filming (Harry Potter and Lock Stock are two recent famous examples). Come here for the scoops and for the reputation only. You may have to stand outside. The beer selection is spread out in three different locations along the bar so make sure you check what’s on offer. Don’t buy your Harvey’s beer here (unless it’s the weekend!), go to The Royal Oak where the beer is in better condition and the atmosphere is more typical of a London local (no tourists!).

Very pleasant place i just found by accident. Had to walk around the block because a filmcrew, and there it was! good selection, about ten cask beers, (harveys bitter as the main beer) and a few kegs too. Didn’t have a look at them, it where three Meantime Brews i believe. helpfull staff and helpfull regulars. I’ll be back today.

Regularly changing selection of weird and wonderful ales on the 10 taps. (Recently reduced to make space for cold Meantime fizz, alas.) Never had a duff pint, and always found 4-7 new beers. If I lived in London, I’d come here 2-3 times a week. Fairly usual pub decor. Avoid post-office-hours - filled with suits.

Large beer range and normally in condition. Meantime beers as well as the 10 or so real ales. If you can’t fit in the pub you can always spill onto the pavement outside. A must visit.

Popped into this pub on a market day, while the market was in full swing. Excellent pub, 10 beers and 2 ciders on top, as well as the nitro stuff. Good fun and good clientelle, lot of beer being drunk, and 7 new rates for me. Good barstaff (the ones that could understand me) and good beer!

Really nice pub, absolutely jam-packed on a Friday at noon. So many different beers on tap and an appreciative clientelle. Good thing.

A big place old fashioned decorated with tinned windows, a fireplace, high wood panelling, and a big wooden bar, though a game machine sits in the corner. 9 beers on cask, 11 on draft, and some boring bottles. 60% of the turnover should apparently be from cask beer, but when I visited on a Monday afternoon, the scarce crowd was mostly cider drinker. The lineup of cask beers was not overly exciting - and nothing like Wenlock Arms on a Sunday afternoon.

This place was crazy full, but it was a 4:30 on a Friday afterall. Fantastic atmosphere and a great energy about the place. A good selection of real ale, and all in pretty good condition too. A must-go-to place in London to be sure.

Rammed full when we were there, but i suppose it was a sat afternoon, we had to stand about 10m down the road to get out of peoples way, most of the people were actually standing in the street anyway. Only saw 6 hand pulls and couldnt see a board with beers on which seemed unusal to me, as if you cant see all the beers from one view surely you should list the ones you cant see on a chalk board somewhere? Anyway a pritty standard pub alround.

My favourite place in London. Stopped in two or three times while in town. Great selection of casks (8-10 at a time). Gets pretty busy at midday and at quitting time. The beers I had were well-cared for and well selected. Fairly diverse selection of cask ales. There were also a small number of Meantime beers on tap. Decent selection of food as well.

Nice pub and a must visit once you’ve been strolling around Borough Market, Good selection of cask ales. Staff are friendly and atmosphere is good too. Great to see a pub that looks like a pub.
