| swoopjones (115), Buffalo, New York | | October 12, 2009 Good food, lots of house beers, bigbottle selection. Some casks: 4 maybe. Most of the stouts & porters were good. Great looking interior, good stop for a bite to eat | | downender (116), Bristol, England | | June 21, 2009 Visited on a weekday afternoon, so relatively quiet. Service was friendly and the dark beers sampled were good, if expensive. Looked like there were some very unusual beers in the fridge. Ok. | | rabidbarfly (12), London, England | | May 26, 2009 Big, notoriously busy in the evening. Packed to the rafters of party-goers. The layout is a tad chaotic but I like it. The service is shocking, absolutely no knowledge of who was waiting first. No recomendations on the beer either.
selection is ok but it’d have to be exceptional to make up for the service. Food very ordinary.
i’d stay away unless you like waiting hours for crap service. | | thewolf (123), Kolding, Denmark | | September 30, 2008 A fine looking place, lots of seating. We were there on a Wednesday evening and it was PACKED! All but one table was booked, the bar crowded and the front even more with smokers and party-goers. We only had three dark beers, which were all good, though never exceptional. The food is rather nice, if a little expensive. Far too noisy with all those patrons, though. Not many sitting down for a quiet pint. | | lada66 (46), Savonlinna, Finland | | September 11, 2008 The place was so full on Saturday Afternoon that one ale was enough. I have tasted their own ales in Dublin already so Thwaite´s Lancaster Bomber was my choice this time. A nice place remains the Dublin one (2.8.2008). | | Rune (87), Tromsø, Norway | | August 22, 2008 Welcome to real ale Disneyland! Nothing less than three sample trays, each with three ales plus a seasonal one. In addition to their own draught lagers, stouts and ales there is a quite impressive international bottle menu. Delicious food the Porterhouse Frying Pan is highly recommendable. Decent service and cosy atmosphere. Best time for sampling beers should be in the afternoon before it gets too busy and crowded (“kick-off” to GBBF, 05.08.2008) | | caesar (119), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands | | August 12, 2008 Visited on friday evening. Big bar dancing, with a lot of drunken English ladies and gents. Some live music. Good fun. For the easy drinking and tasting it wasn’t a good time to pick, but the beers they serve are not brilliant anyways. Several were not available. I had a good time partying at least! | | FatPhil (121), Espoo, Finland | | July 14, 2008 Bizarre and fun jumbled interior, easy to get lost. Very decent selection, including their own beers. Go in the early afternoon to avoid the crowds. | | ogivlado (145), Zagreb, Croatia | | April 23, 2008 I made a huge mistake to go to Porterhouse on Saturday evening. Tons of people were inside, so there was barely the place to stand, you could only dream to sit. Great beer selection, but next time I’ll come in some more normal time. | | Poperinge (119), Cowtown, Alberta | | March 2, 2008 You don’t want to go here at night this place is a zoo. A great selection of their own brews and the make outstanding porters, stouts and have a pretty solid bottle selection. It also doesn’t hurt that we ran to friends from back home when we had lunch there. |
