| Svesse (88), Hässelby, Sweden | | October 11, 2009 Nice pub not far from Oxford Road Station. Used to be a brewpub, but the brewery closed years ago. On my visit in July 2009 they had 5 or 6 real ales, tried one from Bragdy Conwy and one Bank Top Mild, they were nice and well kept. Friendly and nice service. It was a quite lively quizz night with a lot of students from the nearby University area. Nice and friendly place, well worth a visit. | | chriso (161), London, England | | March 22, 2009 Classic old pub in the University area, with a warren of rooms. As Gazza says you can be lucky, or not so lucky, with rare scoops but there is often something of interest amongst the half dozen or so ales on offer. Can get very busy. Although they no longer brew here, last time I was in Lass Ale was still on the bar but I have no idea who brews it these days. | | EFC1878 (19), Manchester, England | | November 29, 2008 This place has improved out of all recognition from a few years back when it was producing its own beers using Whitbread ingredients - they were terrible. Excellent range of beers and spirits, good atmosphere and nicely laid out. The food is excellent and good value. Busy with staff from the nearby BBC. | | Rastacouere (475), Montréal, Quebec | | August 26, 2007 A nice, old building into which a small, but very popular room got very filled while I was there during a football game. A nice selection of ales, certainly not amongst the city’s best, but probably the best in its area. I’d love to stay longer if seating were more available. | | DJMonarch (83), Northwich, England | | August 10, 2007 Lovely old pub in a part of town where there aren’t too many real ale outlets. Used to brew it’s own beer some time back but still offers a good range of ales. Ideal if you’re catching the train to or from Oxford Road station.
| | Gazza (136), Worcester, England | | August 7, 2007 A classic old tiled pub, one of Manchester’s most attractive, situated alongside the BBC and Oxford Road station. It used to brew it’s own beer until 2002 but now sells a decent range of beer from micros and regionals that veries from good to poor - you can be unlucky here or very lucky with some rare beers! The pub has various little rooms which are interesting and it’s location in the shadow of a railway viaduct is very Manchester. Not always the best range of beer, but worth a look for the architecture alone! |
