Good old German Style Beer Restaurant, spacious and airy. Located far away from everything, but well worth the effort going here because of their excellent pilsner. Food was quite alright!

This brewery restaurant in the suburbs of Budapest is really worth the trek out. The neighborhood is not too inspiring, but you will be in for a treat when popping into the restaurant. The first floor is classier and geared towards a fine dining experience, while the basement feels more like a bistro pub. There are two main reasons to come here, imho. First, their house beer has to be some of the best beer to be brewed in and around Budapest. I found it quite reminiscent of what some Czech microbrewers bottle. Crisp and refreshing with a fine Saaz zing. Second, the food menu here is inventive! The cream of broccoli with almonds was as delicious as the turkey with cinnamon sauce and mixed fruit. Strange on paper perhaps, but a mighty excellent match in the plate. If you do have more than a day or two in Budapest, try to come out here to try the full Mister Sorhaz experience. If you can’t, you must know that their house brew is available at other bars in Budapest.

I had my troubles finding this place as nobody speaks English and there was a typo in the address (it’s Regi Foti, not Regifoti, google maps didn’t work, and it was before Gazza). You are in a suburbian side of the city, very calm and nice to experience. The restaurant was empty, we had good service, good food and one very refreshing beer. The place to go, in Budapest.

Superb place – it’s a bit of a trek but well worth it. Beer is excellent (full flavoured and very malty with loads of character) and we could smell brewing out the back too! Food was, as usual in Hungary, superb and very cheap. If you’re doing one brewpub, do this one. To get there, you could also take Metro 3 to it’s Northern terminus at Újpest-Központ then Tram 12 from just outside (direction Rákospalota, Kossuth Utca) to the last but one stop, Fő Út, then cross the main road ahead and walk down Kazinczy Ut to the end. Turn left and Mister is 50 metres on the right.

Take the Metro all the way to the endpoint at Újpest-Központ, continue by bus 96 to REAC football stadium, and walk a couple of blocks north and you’re at Budapest’s most genuine restaurant brewery, far away from other tourists. Even though the restaurant at the entry floor might look posh and expensive the price for a three course dinner is not much more of what you pay at McDonald’s downtown. Their one beer is a solidly maty lager that gies well to their food. I can recommend this place.
