Nice selection of beers on tap, lots of NW micros. Very quiet and cozy place, I’ve heard that the food is better than average. No smoking is great too! My first visit was nice, next time I’ll have to try the food.

John keeps the forty taps turning, so there is always a great beer to be had. Put the TV’s back in.

I enjoyed an 8 beer sampler here for six dollars. They even threw in an ninth for free! My friend and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Lots of beers on tap (38 or 39 I think) and they even have one on a cask. We are going to take our wives back for a double date. Well worth a visit.

It’s called Kahootz Steak & Ale House now, and I recently went back here after a long hiatus (nothing typically draws me to Meridian, either). I helped design this place, so I’ll try not to be biased: They’ve improved a bit in terms of food, which was always good, from last time I was there. The food is all hand-made and fresh (from pub fare to seafood & prime rib). Dusty and John are serious about food AND beer, and it shows. With the likes of Old Woody (cask!), Grand Teton Black Cauldron, and Arrogant Bastard on tap, and food to match, you need to check this place out. Expect to wait for dinner on the weekend unless you have a reservation.

This place surprised me. I didn’t even know it was there and had been so for two years. I don’t go to meridian much. The eatery itself is a nice place with beer signs and antiques adorning the walls. TVs from all angles show the local sports team or some such thing. The taps are what really got me. So freaking many for a little place. And they serve cask conditioned ales. Awesome. The food is good even if they salt their fries too much.

Was there today. Nice clean dimly lit place seats about 80. the owner himself &quo;John&quo; took my order and I asked for a sample tray. He took some interest in the choices I made and asked later what I though of them. My food was good but portions were a bit small. Service was excellent and 2 waitresses cammented to me about the little sample glasses. Apparently they were not familiar with that.

This is a very small restaurant with a bar just right in the middle of the place. Only about 15 tables and the same number of bar seats. TVs with sports are playing in all corners and there’s no smoking (yay). The bar feel is good with a focus on quality regionals. The selection always impresses, lots of regional micros, some quality imports and the occasional rare offering from some breweries. The food is excellent and what one would expect in a place like this, nice modern menu with good flavors, not too exotic. One thing that would drive me here is the large amounts of taps for the area (biggest I know of so far including Boise), no smoking, and it has a CASK! Only three other places in the Boise area have a cask. At the time of visit I had the Bert Grants Imperial Stout on cask. They have previously had Mirror Pond, Mongoose IPA, and Sockeye beers on cask as well. The people were friendly, smart and very interested in serving you good beer. The owner is a great guy too!
