RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
Tucked in a suburban stripmall, this store never ceases to amaze me with a great selection of beers, sometimes even things that Sam’s has neglected to pick up. Even has a selection of homebrewing supplies.

JLAudio | This is my everyday liquor store. It is deceiving a bit on the outside, and the inside for that matter, but the selection of micro’s and craft brews is very nice. The staff is actually quite nice, and they go check their inventory whenever you ask for a certain beer, and they let you know when shipments of the anticipated beers are coming. Very nice considering its right around the block.

| jcsc66 | Small store front, NOT crowded on Saturday night (wonder why)? Good selection, what I found here, I did not find at Kenwood and but Kenwood had what Foremost does not have. Trade off. A lot of the bottles covered with dust, not a very good sign sitting out in the light for a long period of time...I would not go out of my way to go here but stop in if in the hood.

bu11zeye | Small beer selection, but they have a handful of imports that are not available at Sam’s or Binny’s. However, I would not go out of my way to buy beer here.

SubstanceT | Small selection, some good stuff. Got some Hair of The dog stuff. That was pretty good.

YourDarkLord | This place was a small, ratty liquor store. It did have many beers I haven’t sampled but few were enticing enough to buy. Some good beers in the "mix" section, including numerous Belgians. There were some in the six-pack section I’d have liked to try as singles. Better than most package stores but nothing exceptional.

frankenkitty | I love this little place. One of its nicest features is that it’s DARK... a little hard to read some of the labels up the aisles, but then again you don’t really have to worry about light damaging your beer. They’ve also got a "mix a six" station that I’ve been meaning to ask about, but I usually find something else.
Update March 2007: As I return and return to this shop over the months and years, I sadly see the same bottles on the shelves, over and over again. The cases and sixes seem to sell, but management doesn’t do too much (in regards to promotions or sales incentives) to rotate their stock of singles. (Selection score reduced from 13 to 10, Overall reduced from 16 to 13.) Oh... also... "homebrewing supplies"???? Show me.

Cornfield | Run by a friendly east Indian chap (along with an older gent who stands by the open back door smoking heavily), this is a great place to buy beer. A great selection of imports and micros. The couple of times that I’ve stopped there thus far, I find myself being led by my sleeve to look at other ales that might interest me. I have to continually remind myself that my ’fridge and basement can only hold so many beers when I’m there. If you find yourself on the southwest side of the city (Chicago), DO make a stop here.

Drnk_McDermott | Kind of a hole in the wall that you wouldn’t expect to have anything good, but there it is several rows of good or great beers. Best source outside of Chicago for lamics and Christmas ales in big bottles, some German 5 liter mini kegs, and some good stuff in the cooler, ranging from an Australian ESB to Lone Star. Place does not seem to be air conditioned, so stick to the cooler in the summer months.pThere Iwere/i some homebrew supplies, but that was more than a few years ago.
