| Walt (184), Chicago, Illinois | | June 15, 2008 Definitely a solid selection...also, they do not turn stock well at all...they had lots of dusty bottles...first place I have seen in Illinois that you could really make your own sixer though... | | doubelknv3 (20), Illinois | | March 24, 2007 Nice selection, but a bit unorganized. Their mix a six is a buch cheaper than Friar Tuck’s, but noticed that a few beers that I picked up were well past their born-on-date, so I will be more careful when I go back next time. | | Cornfield (138), Oak Forest, Illinois | | July 11, 2006 This was two blocks from an appointment that I had, so of course I dropped in. Nice selection, but a bit skimpy on the Belgian & UK brews. Plenty of German bottles. I made good use of their "mix a six" since they carry a number of beers not found in the Chicago area. One problem: All of the rating labels by their beers had "BA" printed on them. | | jpm30 (57), East Central, Georgia | | January 25, 2006 [ Updated April 19, 2006 ] While you would have to say the Friar Tuck carries more microbrews and is better overall, I’ve been very impressed with Super Liquors. I have found seasonals, limited releases and one off’s that the Peoria Friar Tuck didn’t carry. The Belgian selection is as good as Friar Tuck, maybe better because it looks like they may have a higher turnover rate. Their German and U.K. beer sections are quite good too. The gourmet section, cheese, speciality products and snacks is better than Friar Tuck’s. I guess because the store is smaller, the service is better than Friar Tuck’s and the beer manager took time out to talk to me about new beers they just got in and what’s coming. And another thing Friar Tuck doesn’t do, they offer 10% case discount on any type of mixed micro case or the same discount on 12 large bottles, micro, Belgian or import. You can buy lottery tickets here. The wine bar, the Wine Experience, is connected to the store, but you can sample beers there and they hold beer tastings. Super Liquors is easy to find off E. War Memorial Drive and I would highly recommend that if you are in Peoria, you check this store out.
-- | | Terminus (145), Illinois | | October 23, 2005 man o man, this place holds some memories for me. My dorm buddies and I would go here from Western Illinois University to pick up good beer. At one time, they had new glarus (circa 2002). They carry alot of more rare bells stuff, three floyds, avery, two brothers, and most other midwest micros. they have a stash of 2002 rogue old crustaceon if you can find it! |
