5 reviews for Charlie’;s Ale House (OUT OF BUSINESS)
| gws57 (86), Saint Charles, Illinois | | August 21, 2007 Visited on a Tuesday, early afternoon. Bar was lightly populated, never saw the restaurant area. Bartender was somewhat inattentive given the amount of patronage. Awesome selection of draughts, did not think to have the house red though. My salmon sandwich was outstanding. Everything was very pricey -- two beers and a sandwich came to $30. Televisions showing baseball and soccer. Nice place, might not be back anytime soon but I’m glad I went. | | troyc (72), Lubbock, Texas | | July 16, 2007 A nice place. Average pub/eatery atmosphere inside. They have a rotation from several specific breweries on tap. That means that there is always one beer from DFH, Two Bros., Lagunitas, Spanish Peaks, etc. on tap. Also a decent bottle selection with a surprising number of Belgian beers. Food was pretty much average, with helpful waitstaff. | | lovemyipas (12), sw burbs, Illinois | | April 16, 2007 pretty descent selection of beers two brothers, lagunitas, duvel just to name a few. from what i remember there were 26 beers on tap and about 50 bottles import and domestic. very nice clean family oriented restaurant and a nice fairly descent size smoke free bar. i would recommend it and i definitely have to go back and try more of the beers and try the food as well. | | ElGaucho (146), Minneapolis, Minnesota | | January 1, 2007 I didn’t know this place existed and turned out it was only about 5 miles from my house. Nice, upper-middle scale restaurant. Was there on New Year’s Eve, though early (around 5:30pm). The waitress was happy that we decided to sit in the bar instead of taking up a table in the dining room without a reservation. Five flat screen TVs in the relatively large bar area. When they turned on the NFL game I wanted to see, but behind the bar and tough for me to see, the manager instantly noticed and put my game on a TV I could see more easily. Didn’t even have to ask. The burger I had was excellent but our food wasn’t piping hot. They are kid friendly, with the crayons and child menu. The beer menu online is only a general guideline as to what they have. They didn’t have any 3Fs. They did have DFH Indian Brown and Lagunitas Censored (Kronik) on tap. Together with what looks like a pretty decent bottle selection, you shouldn’t have trouble finding a few good beers to try while you’re there. Recommended. | | MI2CA (19), Noblesville, Indiana | | November 13, 2006 The website has the full menu including the beer list. Many of the taps are seasonals including FFF, Bells (not for much longer), Goose Island, Two Brothers, Great Lakes, and Sierra Nevada. A rather impressive (for a restaurant) bottle list with many top notch Belgians as well as some other fine choices. The waiter told me to order a DFH 60 Minute over the 2Bros Heavy Handed showing that he did have a clue. The food was good and the meal came out quickly even though the place was crowded at lunch time. I like the vintage look of the place including the old semi-nude art and concert posters. |
