MacAnUltaigh (4), Tampa, Florida does not count - explanation | | April 21, 2008 I haven’t been to the Beer Sellar in about 4 years, but back then it wasn’t that special. I used to go there on Friday or Saturday nights, usually before heading to Joe’s Grille. I didn’t go for the food, so I cannot rate that. However, they did have a nice selection of beers both on draught and in bottles. They had a guy doing covers of bands like Tonic and Cake and the Gin Blossoms on acoustic guitar in the corner. Made it feel more like a coffee house than a bar. Not my cup o’ tea. Back then the place overlooked quite a few fake ID toting patrons as well, which, in my opinion, kills the experience of any bar all by itself as kids don’t know how to act. | | Optigon (41), Bloomington, Indiana | | January 21, 2007 Very wide selection of beer, nothing rare though. Typical bar atmosphere. | | julrey (22), Indianapolis, Indiana | | December 9, 2005 Went here for lunch several times when I was still job hunting up in the 82nd/86th area. Haven’t been at night when it apparently gets pretty hopping, although most BAs don’t seem to be into that kind of thing anyway, so no big deal...
The place is dark with a long bar, separate areas for pool and the like. Typical US Touch Tunes jukebox selection vis a vis background noise. There are roughly 50 taps, of which maybe half are going to be immediately useless to the average BA. Not that they are all macros per se, but who’s going to order a Sam Adams or Dos Equis when Bell’s and Upland’s and the like are available? Nonetheless, the rest of the taps don’t get too adventurous, and the bottled selection is especially weak. Just about any BA will find something palatable but this isn’t the kind of place you’d drag someone from Michigan or Chicago in from out of town. About the equivalent of Chumley’s without all the college kids. |
