| CharlesDarwin (100), State College, Pennsylvania | | December 31, 2008 Such a local denizen. A bit of a tired interior is glorified with some gold trim. There’s a decent selection and generally helpful servers. The beers are mediocre and somewhat all over the map. Prices are very fair. This is a hard place to get excited about or disappointed with. Not really something to drive out of the way for, but a good place to stop if you’re in Lafayette. They have some bottles for sale. | BlockBrew (2), West Lafayette, Indiana does not count - explanation | | August 8, 2008 [ Updated August 9, 2008 ] Stopped by and tried their beer sampler. 5oz each of the 9 beers they were brewing at the time. They had some really nice beers and the food was very good as well. | | waolsen (51), Littleton, Colorado | | May 12, 2008 downtown Lafayette. This was my favorite places when I was at Purdue and they have just gotten better. Large bar area and dining room downstairs. large windows facing the street. Upstairs is an enormous room with stage, tables and pool tables. Opened on weekends. Beer selection was about 8 beers. Small bottled selection. Nice menu. Best place in town. | | Tmoney99 (220), Cincinnati, Ohio | | January 20, 2008 [ Updated January 22, 2008 ] Easy to find location directly downtown Lafayette. Street parking and lot accross street. Building is clean and orderly with brewing in the back right behind glass. Bar on front right and seating for food on the left front and in the back. Lot of talk about upstairs for music. Bar has taps in the middle with cooler on the right for six pack carry-out of one style of beer. Staff is freindly with good beer knowledge. Menu is apps and sandwich selections. Good location and sampler beer selections. Well worth the stop. | | Philip (64), Illinois | | November 16, 2007 AMBIANCE: Reminded me of Arcadia in MI, although I think they’re aiming for something more like Great Dane in Madison given the menu and the decor. The smokefree until 9 is a plus. SERVICE: Fine SELECTION: Out of several beers, although the Weeping IPA and the Smokehouse Porter were on tap. FOOD: Out of several items, which apparently is a regular occurrence at the restaurant. If you’re into fried foods, this is a good place. The burger tasted like a frozen patty, and the wrap was nothing special. OVERALL: Worth a trip, but I’m not sure a return. | | Cornfield (138), Oak Forest, Illinois | | June 8, 2007 Nice roomy joint with a long bar and plenty of restaurant seating. Not an exciting menu, but good food with choices for those with restricted diets. When I was there they had nine of their beers on tap with two of them also available from casks. The beers seems uniformly (slightly) watery, but most were tasty enough to warrant a return stop when in the area. | | decaturstevo (55), decatur, Tennessee | | May 26, 2007 Nice place plenty of room. A bar with live music upstairs and a full bar/dining area down stairs. Food was pretty good wide selection and it was pretty good chow. The upstairs has a limited menu. There are beers available upstairs that you can’t get downstairs which is a bit of a pain. We went upstairs got a beer and went down stairs and ordered from the full menu. Pretty busy place on a Thur. night. Overall pretty nice. Prices were reasonable from a pub that is in the downtown part of town and on the fringe of some tourist area it looked like. | | Optigon (41), Bloomington, Indiana | | January 15, 2007 The Lafayette Brewing Company has a comfortable ambiance and has a fair amount of concerts in their upper room. The staff is very knowledgible and helpful in making selections. The beer selection is limited to those of The Lafayette Brewing Company, although I have seen them get in things from Bell’s from time to time. The food is always good. I suggest the Portabello Mushroom sandwich or Fried Pickles. | | DrnkMcDermott (69), Downers Grove, Illinois | | August 16, 2006 So far, the best beer brewpub in a university town that I’ve found (and I’m counting my own university town). I dropped by while the brewmaster and owner were away at Great taste of the Midwest, but both of the "left behind" bartenders were very knowledgeable about the beers, and enjoyed chatting with this beer geek. I did just have the fries, so I’m not qualified to comment on the food, but a nice looking menu. Specialty beers include two cask brews at all times. I only had time for a few samplers, so I had all the specialty beers and will have to save the regular line for later. Posted policy now is No Smoking before 9 PM. | | NachlamSie (175), Tennessee | | August 14, 2006 Nearly everything inside this place is wooden. The building itself is located in a convenient downtown area. The bar was totally empty except for my cohort and me, of course, it was about 11:30 am. I ordered a reuben quesadilla which was unique and very tasty and like most of the items on the menu, very reasonably priced. The bartender was very helpful and engaged a knowledgeable discussion in regards to the brews on tap. | View Page : 1 2
