| KnutAlbert (131), Oslo, Norway | | April 18, 2008 Fine selection, with IRish micros on draft and in bottles plus a good range of imports. This will be my first stop on my next visit to Dublin.
The beer cellar is actually on the first floor, look in both bars, as they may have different micros available. | | larsga (107), Oslo, Norway | | March 25, 2008 Nice place done out kind of like a German beer hall, though with a lot of Irish pub thrown in, with dining tables on the ground floor and a pretty bare room upstairs for drinkers. Service was great, even on St. Patrick’s Day when the place was packed to bursting. Food was good for Ireland. Selection includes Irish micros and imports. Note that they have more beers upstairs than in the restaurant. Overall one of the best places in Dublin. | | eaglefan538 (90), Wilmington, Delaware | | January 18, 2008 A great experience, my personal best of Waterford and Dublin. The scenery here is rustic, very German feeling indeed, and the social side of things matches that of Germany, a true public environment. The food was solid as was the beer selection and quality. If I pass through Dublin again, I’ll no doubt return to here. | | garthicus (22), Toronto, Ontario | | August 25, 2007 This is a Gastropub in a German beer hall style. The menu is well thought out and all dishes have beers paired with them, a very unique selling point in Ireland. The staff are very helpfull and at long last, a pub in Ireland that has REAL glassware. The decor is wooden with vintage beer signs and advertisements everywhere, the Keg room is viewable to the public also and the selection of beers is second to none, they serve Irish Microbrew which in itself is a rarity, Galway hooker is a prime example of this.
All in all I think that this is the jewel in the crown of Dublins pubs and one which must not be missed if you visit.
**On a side note, they are running a beer challenge and when you complete a set list of beers, you get your very own glass with your name engraved on it for use in the pub when you are there** |
