6 reviews for Porterhouse Central
| jbrus (110), Delft, Netherlands | | October 20, 2009 I like places like this. Great atmosphere, friendly people. Not too crowded however, unlike the other Porterhouse in Dublin. Large range of beers available both on tap and bottled. Staff was very friendly and although young girls had some knowledge about the beers. | | berkshirejohn (79), Bracknell, England | | October 1, 2009 Crowded city centre pub - no sitting space, and little room to stand on a Thursday evening. Excellent Porterhouse beers as expected. | | Braudog (478), Dayton, Ohio | | September 19, 2009 September 2009 and discovered they now have two locations. Great selection of house beers (at least 7-9). Crowded as hell at any time of day, which is testimony enough. Food is good. | | nimbleprop (16), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC | | June 17, 2008 This rating is a two parter. My first Porterhouse experience was the start of my night on a Saturday and at 9pm the bar was already packed. The place is huge and the decor is a cross between old Irish Pub and modern bar. They were playing hip-hop music with the accompanying music videos on 6 or so large flat screen TVs. The crowd was a unique mix of young and old, locals and tourists. Everyone was loose and having a good time. The service was a bit slow at first, but it was crowded so that was to be expected. After a few warm up pints I bar hopped for a while but wound up back at the Porterhouse at 2am. The crowd had dissipated a bit, but there were still plenty of revelers of all ages and nationalities. The music was still fun and all in all is was one of the most fun places we stopped. I returned to the Porterhouse the following day for lunch and was greeted by an even better surprise... an outstanding menu with an emphasis on organic and local. The food is put together with the same level of care that the beer is crafted with. The fish and chips were dusted with fresh dill and the tartar sauce was obviously homemade. The bartender was attentive and answered all of the tough questions I had about their brew process. If the house brewed tap selection doesn’t interest you they have a topflight list of bottles from all over Europe, although nothing too rare. Having been open for 7 years this place really gets it at this point. The Porterhouse on Nassau street is a must stop for anyone traveling to the Dublin area. | Daithi8640862 (1), Dublin, Ireland does not count - explanation | | March 28, 2008 Absolutely adore this place. They have a wonderful selection of their ownbeers (chocolate truffle stout being a personal favourite) and excellent bottle selection. Their food is always amazing...one small thing which can be irritating is that at busy periods the food can be a tad slow but otherwise a great place..highly recommended. | | KnutAlbert (150), Oslo, Norway | | October 11, 2006 [ Updated April 17, 2007 ] In a beer desert, this is a real find - while their selection would not have raised any eyebrows in other cities, the Porterhouse bars are the place to go in Dublin. A range of their own beers on tap, and quite a few imports. Check if there are seasonal brews available, or the Celebration Stout.
Live music, but it is a large room, so the sound level was just fine. |
