From my 05/01/09 Oaks Day lunch visit. I really enjoyed the ambiance of this Irish Pub that has an authentic feel to it with the brick and wood, etc. I sat outside in the large courtyard and dining area near the fountain. Service and food was very good. I had the fish and "kettle" chips which was very good. I liked their tap selection which showed the support for the local breweries like BBC and Cumberland. I enjoyed a BBC Bourbon Barrel Stout. This area (The Highlands) is one of my favorite areas in Louisville to eat and raise a pint.

Nice pub setting, with inside and outside seating options. There is also a smaller house out back that hosts beer\cheese tastings and such. Service was slow, but they were also fairly busy, to be fair. The girl that poured my Bigfoot Barley Wine (tap) did not do well. She also poured my La Fin du Monde (bottle), and I would have grabbed the bottle from her hand, but it would have upset the yeast. Messed up again. Selection was decent, but had too many cheerleader beers to earn my respect. I did have some good bacon cheese fries. A good deal on beer sampling, but some things were WAAY overpriced (Chimay bleue for 19 dollars!). Nothing to write home about, but better than average. A few good beers to be had.

I cant believe this place isn’t on here - not because it is unbelievable, but because it is owned by the same guy who owns flannigans, which is already on here, and because the two places are very similar. The menu has 53 beers on it with some surprising ones, though nothing rare. It has a rotating draft list that has somewhere between ten and 15 brews on it - oberon, 3-4 locals, magic hat #9, st. bernardus, and more that I cant remember. The prices are alright (9 dollars for bernardus 12, jsut for reference). The food is pretty good, although I was really sick to my stomach the day after eating there - this could have been the result of the philly cheese steak or something wholly different. My waitress didn’t know very much about beer, but was still friendly and cute. Overall: this place is worth a visit if you are hopping around pubs on bardstown road, but isn’t really worth going out of your way for.
