RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
Reasonably priced. For the most part sales are limited to singles and there are no six packs, except for a few that you’ll find in their coolers. The staff’s knowledge ranges from adequate to very good. Perhaps the best place to buy beer in the Boston metro area. Transit: Charles/MGH stop, Red Line.

| elihapa (20), Hawaii | | October 1, 2008 Stopped by here on my last visit to Boston. It was a bitch to find (due to Boston’s disorienting assortment of one way streets), but I’m glad I did. Walked straight to the back room, which was tastefully dedicated entirely to beer. They had six-packs as well as singles, which was what I was looking for. I picked up beers from Founders, Avery, Stone, Alesmith, Bear Republic, Green Flash, De Dolle, Delirium, and Fullers. I know I can’t speak for all over America, but this is simply the best selection I’ve ever seen. I found myself passing up on beers that I have been trying to locate for months simply because I had reached max capacity. Stop by here if you get a chance. | | Philip (64), Illinois | | September 3, 2008 Of the places I visited in the Boston area (Bauer, Wine Emporium, and two other venues not on this site), I found this to be the best. Needless to say, it wasn’t the beer store of Sam’s Wine in Chicago or the Friar Tuck chains of Illinois. But their selection was well thought, and I recognize that space is limited in the city. I appreciated the inventory on the website, although somewhat dated. I managed to come home with Ten Fidy, some Berkshires, Port 2nd, Olfrabrikin (sp?) Porter, Alesmith Yulesmith, and I wavered over Serpent’s Stout. Not a bad hall really, although prices were high in comparison to what I’m used to, although that was true for most of Boston. Their wine selection was decent, with a few good Rhone wines to satisfy. People were very friendly the best service from the stores I visited. | | kiefdog (59), Tampa, Florida | | August 14, 2008 Visited on a recent trip to Boston. Nice selection of 750mls, 6 packs and singles throughout the beer area. Took a while to take it all in. Many beers here that I cannot buy back in my native Florida like Stone, Lost Abbey, Port Brewing and local craft brew. Impressed with the selection of Belgian beers as well including all three Rocheforts, Westmalle, De Dolle, De Prouf, and many others. Some older bottle on the shelves if you look (Unibroue Terrible, Avery Anniversary beers from years gone by, etc). Prices seems fair. Definitely worth the stop. | | yobdoog (88), Montclair NJ - Woodridge NY, New York | | February 29, 2008 Nice small comfortable place. Nice hardwood floors and friendly staff. I didn’t have questions but it seemed they knew the products. I found some Berkshire stuff, HOTD, had some Vintages and a very good single section. I would stop here any time I am in town. I like that I can get singles and a variety of what is not found in NY. Great place. | | PilsnerPeter (45), Flushing, New York | | October 14, 2007 Nice place. Has a great selection, which isn’t very extensive, but what they do have is worth while. Friendly, somewhat knowledgeable staff, and a nice wooden, warm ambiance. Some obscure stuff and vintages. I found some De Dolle Stille Nacht Reserva 2005. Also for people from places like NY they carry Ale Smith & Founders, which is a big plus. A must stop if in Boston. | juiceisloose (7), Windermere, Florida does not count - explanation | | September 28, 2007 I stopped in here when I was in Boston last month, and it is a nice a little store. They had a lot of wine to go with a pretty good selection of beer. It says they have over 500 bottles, but I don’t think that is accurate. They have some pretty nice stuff in there though a lot of which I can’t get in Florida. They had some Alesmith, Stone, Port Brewing, and a good amount of local stuff. I was able to get some pretty rare belgian stuff as well. The stuff they do have definitely makes it worth a stop if your in the area or from out of town like I was. The staff was friendly too and even gave me a box so I could wrap all the beers and fly them back home with me. Pretty cool place overall. | | mvcramer (15), Arlington, Massachusetts | | August 12, 2007 I live nearby and stop in once a month or so. Nice crew working here and a great selection, all arranged neatly by style or country of origin. Worth visiting if you’re in Boston fo any reason. Best place to shop for beer within the city. It’s nice to give business to nice, knowledgeable, enthusiastic people. | | Alldaydrinker (21), Norwood, Massachusetts | | August 11, 2007 This place is homey, but they state they have 1000+ beers, which is not true. The selection is good was expecting an over the top selection. Moylans, Stone, Rogue, Lots of belgians, Hair of Dog and some more goodies. I would rather drive to Julio’s. Check it out its worth it, but just don’t expect over the top as they make themselves out to be. | | beastiefan2k (97), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas | | May 24, 2007 Did not mean to come here but I was lost trying to get from Cambridge brewing back to my hotel which was in Watertown (jez, I now see how lost I was). All of a sudden I see this place (fate had a plan for me). So the weird thing, despite that fact that I had a few drinks in me and that there was a cop in the store when I came in, and that the place JUST GOT ROBBED, things went rather well. I still got help from the staff and they even printed out a google map for me and gave me directions. Selection was good, few duds there, prices maybe a buck less than Marty’s, not as large as Julios but some Belgians that Julios would not even have. Lots of liter bottles for some reason here at the time. | | JoeMcPhee (218), Jackson Heights, New York | | May 1, 2007 Not as large a selection as they could probably have, but there aren’t any duds at all. There’s a good selection of Belgians especially saisons. A small cooler with six-packs, but it’s mostly singles. Decent prices and a few ciders that I’ve never seen before. The selection is well laid-out. The staff were friendly and seemed to know what they were talking about. Good prices (especially compared to some of the other shops in this neighborhood). Very nice bottle shop. | View Page : 1 2 3
