Decent service and great music (bartender’s ipod). I appreciate the huge chalkboards on the left as you walk in, telling you what’s on draft at both bars. You can order a beer from either bar menu, though. Never understood why they split them up? The food was nice. Fried pickles are great with a nice dipping sauce. I also had the portabello sandwich, which had wilted spinach on it - an interesting and welcome addition. Had two pours: Hop Wollop and Double Simcoe. Both poured neatly and tall. Far as I could tell, beer was fresh and lines were clean. All in all, I’d go back again.

This place always has a diverse selection of taps that are almost exclusively american micros. It’s obvious the owner stays current on what is new and recently released as the list is always changing. The food is kinda lame BBQ with some decent pulled chicken. The sides are fantastic, I highly recomend the onion rings, mac-n-cheese and fried pickles! The servers are really hit or miss, with some that are into the industry and some that obviously have no idea. Some brought me a Weyerbacher and called it a Fire-Lager... come on. Most of the bar tenders are pretty knowledgable though. Beers are not cheap, but not outlandish either, and food can be quite cheap with some creative ordering. Sides and Sandwiches are really affordable with entrees being in the ~$20 range. Great atmosphere with brick half walls and dark wood counters. Nicely done stencils of breweries surround the walls. Very fun place.

Hmmm, I shouldn’t have looked at ajm’s review before writing my own. I found this place to have a great selection on tap, and the dual-bars is a nice touch to mix things up and keep it interesting. Yes, there are not the rarest beers in the world here. But who can complain with a night of drinking that included Stone’s RIS, Victory Hop Wallop, GD’s Claymore Scotch, and Ommegang Three Philosopher’s on tap? My suggestion: if you have the time, tag-team Publick House and Roadhouse to get the best tap selection in Boston. Oh by the way, Kentucky Breakfast Stout was listed as on tap, but I was told by a smug bartender that it was kicked in 24 hours.

Same owner as the Publick House... but NOT the Publick House. I find the authenticity, attention to recipe, and integrity of ingredients way lower than the PH. The ambiance is like a strange Chinese restaurant that you might have found on the island that Enter the Dragon takes place on. Food is aright, beer is above average (but not impressive for beer hunters). Makes for a good night, but not as good as down the street.
