RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
Yet another New England brewpub in an old restored building in a downtown that would fall into decay were it not for tourism and antiquing. This one looks to me straight out of an Eastern European art movie, smallish and old with an odd-shaped bar and interesting clientele. Interesting seasonal selections with a knockout Imperial Stout and at least one cask selection; cheap, vegetarian-friendly menu.

Three casks always on, take everything on cask. An attractive bar in a reasonably friendly and safe smaller town. Tattoos yet people act decently. It was late, there was loud swearing and that sort of behaviour. The locals were there. Ben, the bartender was very experienced and had the right pour down. He was fast and on top of things, an American all-star. Knew what was good if not the ingredients. Good homemade root beer and the Ginger beer-ginger ale is one of the best I have had in a long life of pop drinking. The beers are more or less average, with some experimentation that was fun to try.Clear winner that night: Oatmeal stout on cask. A guest tap, and pub food. Cheap pints and half pints always available.

Visited around 9 PM on a Saturday night and it was pretty crowded. A prettty small place with electic decor. Crowd was pretty young and crunchy for the most part. 10 beers or so on tap, all of them were pretty average to sub par. Didn’t eat but the menu looked pretty good- cheap, with fresh mexican appetizers and dishes, cheese plates, etc. No brewing is done in house here, the brewery is around the block from the restaurant. Service was pretty good

Rather busy on the Friday night we visited (me, Gonzo and Agnes). The place was packed. The service was decent if rushed, but the beers....uninteresting bland and watery, or like Gonzo mentionned, tasting of diacetyl. Bad batches? The place looks nice and off-center....May have to come back ...during the day!

Neat little brewpub that doesn’t try to be cookie cutter in its layout, instead keeping things slightly eccentric. The food was decent, ambiance pleasant, service helpful -- all the basics were covered.

Very nice place to grab a reasonably-priced pint, and some earthy-crunchy food and pinko people-watching. Service can be spotty, but homebrewed beers and sodas are stellar. Try the Oatmeal stout and the Farmer Brown. Nice seasonal rotation. Food utilizes mostly local agriculture sources which is good for the farmer and the environment. Great progressive place! Don’t know what the initial comments are talking about - Greenfield is neither a tourist nor an antiquing town - it’s a standalone community in a beautiful area that values local businesses and, incidentally, good beer. The lemming big-city tourists typically pass Greenfield right by for the tacky junk on the Mohawk Trail or the themepark cutesiness of VT. Locals are the ones keeping Greenfield and the Pint viable and interesting!

I stopped here with Maibockaddict on the way to Vermont. Very similar to Mcneills but this place had some more food to offer. Very nice beer. Good selection. Lots of bar snacks. Decent place. 3 casks and 7 or 8 regulars. Decent.

third stop on the MBA and Mkobes Western MA tour. Spartan interior dominated by the bar, much like McNeills. Lots of wood about. Commies too. Attentive and knowledgeable barkeeps. Nice selection of brews incudig 3 hand pumps, and around 8 regulars or so. Interesting food, including lots of bar snacks. The beer is good enough for a reguar visit, and looks like the brewer will keep things interesting. Good place.

Good food, o.k. beer and cheap prices. It gets packed during dinner and they play music later on so it gets more packed.

see my comments above. Republicans, stay away from this leftist enclave in touristy Greenfield. Great beers, good conversation with the intense young Nader-loving bartender, Euro-influenced jazz combo playing softly. Atypical brewpub experience for the US, seems more appropriate to Montreal. I liked it.
