| yobdoog (88), Montclair NJ - Woodridge NY, New York | | February 29, 2008 Nice wooden place. Good size bar so people can eat there, a few tables in the bar area and other tables in the dining area all in the same restaurant. Tons of taps and stuff I don’t see in NY. Great food, we had some burgers and I recommend it. I am a burger guy and it was good. Not very Yankee fan friendly but what place is in Mass. Lots of local taps which was great for me, I love the local stuff. No problem getting some samples and everyone was very friendly. | Gash (4), Quincy, Massachusetts does not count - explanation | | November 9, 2006 Great small town atmosphere. Ample area in the bar. Of course, huge selection of draughts which is the best part. Mostly local New England brews but some other regions as well. Great parking which you never have to worry about. Great and friendly service with pretty decent food and fair sized menu. Outdoor seating area is nice as well. Definitely one of the better places to find a good brew in the area. | steerpike (7), Greenfield, Massachusetts does not count - explanation | | September 26, 2005 Great selection of regional micros on tap! Best place I know of to try New England’s regional best. If only NE produced better beers, though... My favorite NE beers have almost always been at random, little-or-no outside distribution brewpubs, like People’s Pint, The Tap, Barrington, Gritty’s, McNeill’s, etc. Horseshoe features many from the likes of Wachusett and Berkshire, which have never done much for me. Great beer bar for drafts - small bottle selection. Small but well-chosen Belgian selection. Food is typical pub fare - good but not outstanding and wonderfully filling. Good place to see what’s brewing in the New England craft-beer scene! | jliz86 (1), does not count - explanation | | July 6, 2005 80 TAPS..VERY WIDE SELECTION renovations complete..now rooftop beer garden, lower level outside. taps clened regularly..very good specials..beer dinners | | MrRomero (104), Panama Shitty, Florida | | May 21, 2005 Bar/restaurant type atmosphere. A wall full of taps. All beers seem to be fresh and the lines are clean. Very good service at the bar. Small samples are available for free. Sampler trays are also available and are your choice. Chimay White, Lindeman’s Framboise, and several other Belgians on tap. A nice place. Too bad it was so far away. | DrGonzo (4), Somerville, Massachusetts does not count - explanation | | December 30, 2004 Fairly large selection of beers on tap. Plenty of local and New England brews not typically found at other bars, Belgians, bitters, no macroswill. Bottle selection is more limited, but the tap options make up for it. Good variety of better than average pub food selections, reasonable prices all around. Ambience is a little stale, at least in the upstairs bar area where I sat, but not a big detraction. Worth a trip if you’re in the area. | | OldGrowth (106), the Contaiment Area, North Carolina | | June 3, 2004 [ Updated February 6, 2005 ] Renovation is coming along, though its going to lose its small pub charm. Good people. Lots of good New England choises. Food is ok at best, Stay away from the popcorn shrimp almost all batter, tiny shrimp.Burgers and sandwiches good. Specials can be good. Will update when finished. 09/30/04 I’ve been told TV’s are up in the bar area.02/06/05. Things are just about done, though I notice the area behind the bar has a few unfinished things. | vwsteggie (8), Paxton, Massachusetts does not count - explanation | | April 4, 2004 Very easy to get to and park. Beer, well what can I say, 50 beers on tap. Huge selection and interestingly, no Bud or Coors on tap. The food is ok, but you don't go for the food. |
