(48e rating d’établissement) | | OldGrowth (106), the Contaiment Area, North Carolina | | July 12, 2006 [ Updated July 13, 2006 ] What a monster of a place. In an old mill building. Not far from the home of the Lowell Spiiners and Tsongas arena. 3 floors altogether, I only visited the 1st floor. Nice wooden booths with brass railings and a view of a almost labratory looking brewing area. Bar is off to one side in a special, room. Normally I assume you could enter through the outdoor patio area, but it was blocked off on my visit and I had to enter through the restaraunt side. Bar are has high ceiling that with some window up high. semi octogonal bar with a marble top, couple Tv’s with about a dozen seat with a couple tables and a counter top. Beers on this visit were
Concord:
Grape,
IPA,
Porter,
Northwoods,
Pale ale,
ESB,
Rapscallion:
Blessing,
Creation,
Premier,
House
Pale ale,
Lager,
Oatmeal Stout,
Pretty much everything they make.
Didn’t have any food. Bartender was cool and gave me the remote to the TV since I was the only one there. Quite the place | | fbennett (24), Lowell, Massachusetts | | January 31, 2006 I frequent this place since it is basically across the street from my house. Apon entering on a friday night around 7 it was slow, very slow, which is the norm except upstairs which is like a game room that is usually busy but not tonight.
The exchange usually has clean, quick, and friendly service and tonight was no different. They had the usually fair on tap, all the Concord brews (IPA, North Woods, etc) plus all the Rapscallion offerings
Overall, my dining experience was great. My beer experience not so much, I guess this is the first time really looking for help for new beers at a brewpub. So next time I’ll make sure to do my homework and not rely on the staff of a brewpub to know what they are serving, or should I have to?
