72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 mstockton (24) Frankfurt, Germany | August 3, 2006 A place that every person seems to want to go if they’ve never been. It’s visible off of I-75, so it attracts a lot of attention. The beer is not bad...I do find their seasonal or special to be best, though. Some fruit hefes were pretty good. It’s huge inside and gets a huge crowd...especially prior to Pistons’ games. A good spot for meeting prior to a game. The food used to be pretty bad, but a new menu has improved things dramatically. The ahi tuna is not bad. | 84 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 ericnixon (57) Vermont | March 11, 2006 The inside sort of resembled a log cabin, but the gigantic cavernous feel of the place did a lot to take away from the attempted warm, cozy, ambiance they were trying for. The deer heads on the wall virtually went unnoticed due to the overwhelming size of the walls. The large barrel-lights on the ceiling were cool with how the metal above them gave the impression that they were big Coleman lanterns hanging above. The service and food scores might be slightly skewed due to us being such a large group (around 40 people). We had several, super nice people (with the exception of the blonde waitress who looked very annoyed to be working) waiting on us. When someone asked the waiter for "a beer", he took the time to explain the various styles they had and made reccomendations based on what the guy wanted. As for the food, we didn’t get the regular menu, but instead got their limited menu for large parties. I had the buffalo burger, which was very good. Now for the beer. I asked for a sampler and was given their laminated mat that had six of their beers on it. The waiter said they were out of one, but gave me a second, paper mat with a selection of five more beers on it to pick a replacement from. I went with the Mrakava Vanilla Porter. A co-worker tried the Raspberry Wheat. Overall, their beers were pretty good. Not amazing by any means, but not bad either. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 LilKem (23) Marietta, Ohio | February 13, 2006 This was a very decent place to hang out when I worked at the Palace. This was the brewery that encouraged me to try lots of microbrews. Their Hefe was great, as I recall, and everything about this place was comfortable. Definitely worth a visit. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 Aggie80 (14) Michigan | September 3, 2005 Very Up North ambience, with deer heads and log cabin walls. Great place for groups to meet for dinner with large booths and good food. Very kid friendly, with several soda the make there. The brewing area is always available for self tours and the brewmasters will chat as they work. Take out in bottles and growlers available. |
