bitterruss (4), Howell, Michigan does not count - explanation | | August 31, 2007 This is my favorite bar. The beer selection is excellent with multiple local and international brews available on tap. They have many imports available in bottles.
I’ve never had a watered down beer there so I’ve never experienced what a previous reviewer said.
The service depends on your waitress. I’ve experienced everything from terrific service to being completely ignored. The bartenders are very helpful.
Food is decent...typical bar food.
Not an ounce of pretention in the entire building, just people who like to drink and visit. An excellent selection in the jukebox as well.
Overall an enjoyable drinking experience. | kidwiththehair (3), Girdwood, Alaska does not count - explanation | | January 22, 2007 I dont get to visit this place to often but when I do its always a good time. The main level has a nice tavern feel with all the typical comforts of any good bar (tv’s games, ect...) and the upstairs is nice and dark with couches and tables and on some occasions entertainment. They have a pretty knowledgable barstaff which is always a plus. All in all a quality watering hole. | | ClarkVV (90), Allston, Massachusetts | | September 11, 2006 [ Updated September 12, 2006 ] This place seems like the kind of place that looks good from the outset. Lots of quality taps, Bells, Dark Horse, Arcadia, etc... They even had Saison Dupont on draught when I was there. But then you try the beer.....Watery, old, poorly carbonated and generally just in poor condition. Which is too bad, because the place is nice enough, friendly service, decent layout, not really pretentious or anything. But most of the beers tasted like they were pouring half beer, half water. Not sure what’s wrong. Great selection though. Good prices too. | | mstockton (19), Rochester, Michigan | | August 3, 2006 A great place with a huge selection of domestic micros, large manufacturer beers and imports. Kind of seedy looking, but the crowd is pretty hip. A good bar that has a pretty low snob factor. | alittlemelty (5), Michigan does not count - explanation | | July 7, 2006 One of my favorite places to go in Metro Detroit. The staff there has introduced me to many many many new and delicious beers. And a few not-so-good ones, but that, as always, is up for debate. The place does seem a tad run down, and it can get very smoky at times, but it’s still a great bar. They have a pretty respectable selection of English Ales, and the Bell’s beers don’t taste as good anywhere else as they do here, in my humble opinion. | TimmyG (1), Berkley, Michigan does not count - explanation | | April 4, 2006 The staff (with one exception) is knowledgable, helpful and attentive. Great place for the avg. joe to learn some of the finer points and sample beer he wouldn’t buy otherwise. Can get a bit loud and is a little run down. The food will suprise you though, as it’s much better than you would expect. | | punkrkr27 (15), Clawson, Michigan | | March 17, 2006 [ Updated April 10, 2007 ] Decent atmosphere, lots of booths, a nice cozy upstairs with bands on the weekends. Excellent selection. Usually about 40 beers on tap and just as many bottled selections. Staff is cool, and most are knowledgeable. Service is pretty quick. Food is typical bar food with a gourmet twist. | sandwichpants (2), Royal Oak, Michigan does not count - explanation | | February 10, 2006 My favorite bar! The staff is very knowledgable, friendly, and helpful. Back when I didn’t know what I was talking about, they could easily help me find beer that fit my tastes. Now that I’m an official beer snob pain in the butt, they can help me through bouts of indecision, or help direct me towards something new and different. I was given a number of samples to help my decision making process. They also have things such as cask Bells Two Hearted, which is quite the experience, if you like hops at all, and you’re in the area, this is a must! And beyond that, it’s a comfortable bar with a decent atmosphere, dark and private, but open and friendly at the same time. Upstairs is a nice small venue as well. | packergirl (2), Marquette, Michigan does not count - explanation | | December 20, 2005 The beer selection is amazing; I never thought I could fine so many Belgian beers in one place. The food was good, nice and greasy! They had just about all the Michigan beers to, which is good, have to support he locals. If you are in town definitely worth a stop! | | Brad (16), Royal Oak, Michigan | | September 1, 2005 Great beer bar, lots of taps and lots of bottles. Organized by countries, with UK and the US being their dominate selections. Bar also features cask selections. Sort of loud and kind of a dive, perfect in my opinion. Also has an upstairs area with a limited beer selection, live music and additional seating. | View Page : 1 2
