| bigtaster (15), Grand Rapids, | | July 8, 2008 Very relaxed atmosphere, great place to go an chill. Good beer and prices. Had sampler of all 10 beers and all were solid. Hope to get back there sometime. Staff didn’t know what a firkin was. | TheDripLS (2), Bridgman, Michigan does not count - explanation | | September 13, 2007 I can’t really put my finger on why, but this is one of the most comfortable brewpubs I’ve ever been in (I’ve been in dozens). Very good beers (still two bucks a pint at this writing), nice deck and couch seating area with a fireplace. Good service. Popular place even in the summer when school’s out. And when you leave, take some to go – in cans. Yep, you heard me, cans.

| | muzzlehatch (255), Burlington, Vermont | | August 26, 2006 Really cool-looking place, if you like the bare-bones old timey saloon look (I do), and really cheap prices and efficient service from the bartender....alas the beer just wasn’t very good. Hefe and stout were all right but the rest dull and a couple had slight diacetyl issues. Not really recommended, but it is just a block from The Library, so you might as well hit both.... | | awaisanen (16), Irvine, California | | July 11, 2006 What a great atmosphere and preservation of some of the old historic buildings from the Keweenaw’s mining area. A perfectly kept and designed business with the local community in mind - check it out if you would like to get some of the Copper Country’s local flavor. The general rotation of brews are pretty good as well, and sometimes some tasty seasonals are available. How can you possibly go wrong? Good beer, good company, good service, good ambiance, and $2 a pint?!? No wonder its a favorite of local college students. | | redlem (58), Illinois | | June 16, 2006 [ Updated July 20, 2006 ] Compared to the other Keweenaw brewpubs this is by far my least favorite and seemed skewed to the frat-boy crowd, $1 for a bag-o-nuts, with the shells left on the floor. $2/pint and growlers going for $6/$3. Found the beers to be kind of boring as I did the place itself. | | CharlesDarwin (100), State College, Pennsylvania | | March 19, 2005 [ Updated December 22, 2008 ] A very cozy and rustic bar, with the whole brewing operation visible. Always bustling with college students and friendly locals. They’ve recently expanded to a non-smoking side and a smoking side, with with a very comfortable couch and fireplace arrangement in the back of the non-smoking side. You are allowed to bring in your own food. The pint prices have gone up to $2.50 (still a deal). They have also added a back deck, which is great for summertime. Also, they’ve moved the brewing of their main line to an off-site brewing operation, so they spend more time with seasonals and specials. |
