orvalale1 (1), Hickory, North Carolina does not count - explanation | | December 30, 2008 The people here are great. Historically focused on wine. Best wine prices around. Beer selection has improved over time and hope that trend continues. Well worth checking out.
Cheers | | ogglethorp (23), Ohio | | December 27, 2008 Large warehouse type place, with a larege selection of mainly wine, beer and liqour. The beer selection is decent, some nice harder to find items, but all in all not that expansive. Im sure this place will take on more beer items in the months and years to come. | | msante79 (28), Orland Hills, Illinois | | November 21, 2008 Stopped in near closing time while on business in Detroit. Huge store with massive wine selection. Beer section was nice but not huge. What makes this place special is the prices. They have about the cheapist prices around. Could use a singles section. Picked up Stone Double Bastard and a Founders pint glass. Place is decorated a little funky. Did not expect to see a stuffed bear and lion. | vinnlandia (1), Kenosha, Wisconsin does not count - explanation | | September 30, 2008 Being a beer fiend from Maine and recently relocated to Wisconsin, I am a bit dismayed that there’s no good beer store in southern Wisconsin. (Someone please correct me on this!)
That said, my sales rep and I were in Michigan recently, and he told me we would be stopping at a local beer store he found.
To put it simply, I was pleasantly surprised. This place is awesome!!
I had my sights set on a pumpkin ale, and being from Maine, I was HOPING for Shipyard Pumpkinhead ale, not having had it since I left Maine.
Not only did they have five cases, but they had every other imaginable pumpkin ale. I ended up settling on Dogfish Head Punk.
My sales rep, on the other hand, ended up walking out with eight six packs, getting GREAT prices on all of them, and picking up a bottle of Southern Tier Imperial Pumpking.
The Southern Teir was not on the shelves, as they were saving it for people who had heard of it, or were looking for a GOOD pumpkin ale.
I DEFINITELY recommend this store to anyone looking for hard-to-find beer.
Only brand _I_ was looking for that I didn’t find was Nogne. | | mmhnto (11), Lisle, Illinois | | August 15, 2008 Stopped here after a visit to Kuhnhenn. Warehouse style with a large selection of Michigan and import beers including a couple of pretty hard to find Danish beers. Prices are probably the cheapest in the metro area. | newellcr (1), Sterling Heights, Michigan does not count - explanation | | July 29, 2008 I’ve been shopping at Champane’s for years. The beer selection was always pretty good, now it’s fantastic. The store has a catch 22. The prices are very competitive and they frequently sell out quickly, so their pricing hurts their selection a little bit. It’s a nice problem for a customer to have...
My kids love to look at the taxidermy animals so that makes it a little easier to shop there with the kids. Mr. Champane is always nice to the kids too.
The bottle return policy is a bit of a problem, but I do like the idea of dropping off full cases of empties without having to use the machines.
Sign up for the emails and make sure to go to the beer tastings! | mcbeerski (1), Pontiac, Michigan does not count - explanation | | July 28, 2008 Decent beer selection Great wine selection! Michael, in the beer department, is very knowledgeable the other employees, not so - more focus is on wine. WIth this much space, though, they could have the best beer selection in the state, if they chose to. They already have the best prices, and you can order things in advance of their release (think Stone Vertical Epic). Worth the trip, and you can stop at nearby Kuhnhenn’s while you’re in the area. | LearninBeer (2), Sterling Heights, Michigan does not count - explanation | | July 27, 2008 I used to tell everyone to go here for the best price, but the selection of beer was hit or miss. Lately the selection has stayed at a very decent level and the prices have inched up some but most of the prices are still very good. I met Michael (Beer_Champanes) and he is a knowledgable beer guy. He will try to get beers in that you ask for, he turned me on tho his last Brasserie Dieu Du Ciel Péché Mortel a very delicious beer! | northernbrews (4), Allen Park, Michigan does not count - explanation | | June 22, 2008 [ Updated July 28, 2008 ] Stopped in here after the Summer Solstice on 6/21. I’ve been coming here for a few years and always stop here before/after Kuhnhenn. Pretty cool store w/ stuffed Lions and Bears with a lots of wine, liquor, nuts, and pretty nice beer selection. Finally met Micheal this past trip as I was heading out and he asked me to let him know if there is anything I wanted. He has done a nice job w/ expanding the selection. They used to be a few dollars cheaper per bottle/6 pack than any store around and that was my main reason to stop in there. They still had some good deals on some beers, but alot of them seemed to go up to what other places charge....notably Expedition and Abt 12 going up to 14.99. Last time I was there. they were 11.99. It seemed some of the Belgian 4 packs have went up quite a bit too. Overall, still a nice beer store and worth the stop when heading to kuhnhenn. But unfortunately, with the price increases, its not worth the 45 minute drive from the house that it once was. | hopparata (1), sterling heights, Michigan does not count - explanation | | June 13, 2008 The beer selection is excellent, The service is great and the prices are unmatched. If you have not been here before you need to check it out. | View Page : 1 2 3 4
