December 18, 2009 Primarily a HUGE wine store, also with a fair selection of North American and European snack foods (sausages, candy, nuts, chips, etc.).
The beer selection, while 1/5 the size of the wine department, is one of the best in the area. Local stalwarts like Bell’s and Founder’s, many other micros, as well as decent British, German, Japanese, East European and naturally Belgian beer represented. They have good quantities, especially of North American selections, six packs of American beer on top of piles of cases, for example. IME when I bought out a tasty European pint (Fuller’s Vintage 2007) from the shelf, the next time I went back it was generously replenished.
The staff is friendly and helpful, and have even solicited my opinion when recommending brands or varieties to beer novices in the store while I was shopping. No apparent snobbery, which is rare for a wine store.
Worth a visit if your local supermarket’s beer selection has been drastically shrinking of late!
Also very close to the nice Kuhnhenn’s microbrewery.
