21 reviews for Heritage Liquor
Jewsh666 (1), Moundsview, Minnesota does not count - explanation | | September 9, 2009 My favorite Liquor store in town by far! Ed and Joe know their beer, and are pleased to teach you and help find the perfect beer for " You" | | tennisjoel (29), Shakopee, Minnesota | | June 20, 2009 One of the top tier beer stores in the twin cities. Joe and Ed make this place special. I came after a tennis match for a Founders tasting. Really nice guys (ratebeer members), plus a good selection. Small but the selection is quality! | | nbutler11 (79), Phoenix, Arizona | | January 4, 2009 A little out of the way, but well worth the trek. Ed is the man. Spent about 30 minutes talking with him and he certainly hooked it up. The regional selections and imports are impressive. This place had everything on my shopping list, so there was no need to stop anywhere else. A must visit when in the area. | Oldbeer (2), St. Paul, Minnesota does not count - explanation | | December 16, 2008 its too bad that I cant use an adjective filled rating about how frickin stupendous this store is Five reviews have been rejected for using punctuation so lets try this | lufootball (1), Coon Rapids, Minnesota does not count - explanation | | December 12, 2008 Ill start out with my only complaint - this place should be closer to home. Unfortunately, its still a destination, but that hasnt deterred me. Joe and Eddie are great, and they really know their beer. Ive been here a number of times, and theyre quick to offer new recommendations and suggestions. They also do a great job of mixing things up and getting some new and hard-to-find beers that I havent seen elsewhere. Wonderful selection -from domestic crafts to a slew of imports- and reasonable prices.
I just stopped in yesterday for their Beer Geek Christmas and was even treated to a number of beer samples from the private cellar -Tyranena BGW 06 Spank me Baby Barrell Aged and their Imperial Pumpkin. Every time I walk in, I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. Generally, Joe or Ed will start off by saying, Waitll you see what I just got in... or You gotta check this out... I know I just mentioned this, but these guys really know their stuff, and the customer service couldnt be better.
Cheers to Heritage L | | Beerking721 (10), , Minnesota | | November 30, 2008 From my visit last summer...
A small, older store next to a bakery, Heritage is located in a sleepy area of Maplewood that I didn’t know existed. Upon facing the store, I was met with a number of beer ads on their outside windows advertising macro specials. Entering brought me into what I would describe as a typical "neighborhood" liquor store with spirits and wines in the front half and beer towards the rear.
The beer selection was good with the most notable part being a nice six pack option that gives a 10% discount. Several reach-in / wall coolers provide additional selections (crafts/macros) behind the standard shelving.
Service was fairly strong - meaning that I wanted to take some time to look but the owner and his dad kept talking to me while I was trying to shop. Not the hugest of problems (considering the lack of attention from some of the other stores I’ve visited), but it took away from my ability to really see the beers and make a comfortable purchase | | KAF (68), Coralville, Iowa | | October 10, 2008 By far one of the best shops in the MN. The service is great from the manager to the owner. The staff knows its stuff about beer and is more then willing to help out with whatever you need. Great selection of a wide varieties of beer and fairly priced. The downstairs sets this store apart with a great and relaxing area to drink and hang out. A must stop if you’re in the Cities. | | kmweaver (113), Sebastopol, California | | September 22, 2008 Definitely the best stop of a four-part bottle shop trip east of St. Paul. Tons of great sour beers, Surly and JP selections, and international beers. While there are some moderately rare finds here, the real strength is a kickass local and international selection of beers. My wife and I really enjoyed meeting and talking with joebrew, who was really helpful in helping me pick out beers and a great host. 10% off a mixed six-pack is a nice touch as well. A very highly recommended beer stop just north of St. Paul. | | mnoutdoors (10), Allover, Wisconsin | | September 16, 2008 This store catches you by surprise, while not much to look at on the exterior, that is it’s only downfall. Great selection and am told it grows weekly, and not just anything, but selectively. The tasting room is awesome, Ed cracked a bottle of Founders Breakfast Stout to try. How many stores will let you try a beer you can’t purchase there. A must stop every time in town... Look forward to making one of your tastings in the near future. | | kosko20 (10), Bemidji, Minnesota | | August 11, 2008 [ Updated March 4, 2009 ] Awesome place. Joe and Ed are badasses. I got there, Ed was very informative and showed me some good brews to try out. Then he took me downstairs to their tasting room and cracked open a Stone Ruination for me. Then Joe (2 hours late) shows up and we chill, talking brews and good places in the twin cities. Definitely stopping by here every time I’m in the cities. |
