RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
This is the quintessential Minneapolis stop. If you’re stuck without a car, it’d be about a 10 block hike from the lightrail’s Downtown East/Metrodome station. With a car, you can park in the Holiday Inn next door. The atmosphere is great. There’s a quieter dining room on one side, bar on the other with a large patio in the summertime. They have one pool table and a small couch/fireplace/TV area by the dining room. The staple beers are a mix (two okay, three pretty good), but the seasonals are where they shine. Baring the occasional miss, they churn out wonders like Czar Jack, Heather, Wee Heavy, wine infused stouts, and more. There are two cask selections which are usually two of the current seasonals (nice to try it side by side with the ‘pushed’ sibling) or a staple on cask. The Masala Mama on cask (shown as Cask IPA) is awesome.

| kmweaver (67), Takoma Park, Maryland | | September 21, 2008 I definitely don’t think we stopped by here at an ideal time, but they did have three decent seasonals on tap: Hefe, Vienna Pale ale, and the Smoked Helles Lager, in addition to their standard line of beers (which includes Masala Mama). A small amount of local beers and imports available as well. Lengthy indoor bar and lots of outdoor seating. Our waiter was pretty knowledgeable about beer, but I’ve heard that isn’t to be expected. Worth a stop, but you might want to call ahead about the seasonals on tap. Near to Acadia Cafe and the Blue Nile (walking distance from the former). Worth a stop. | | heemer77 (134), Savannah, Missouri | | September 16, 2008 I visited on a crowded Friday night. A bowl of pretty darn hot chile complenmented my brews here. Solid line up and I was glad to see a cask beer was on. I have been lucky enough to try a couple of their beers before and everything I have tried has been solid. Certainly worth a visit and I will be going again very soon. | Steib (8), Queen Creek, Arizona does not count | | August 26, 2008 Fantastic beer selection. The thunderstorm beer was to die for. Great old biulding. Sampler tray, service was good and the food wasn’t bad. Seek it out | | Boliv (10), New York | | August 19, 2008 Visited on a business trip during the summer with some colleagues. We sat on the patio and enjoyed a beautiful evening, sampling beer after beer. The Java brown ale was great, and the Blackwater stout and Masala Mama were worth a try as well. Someone ordered the potato skin pizza (or something similar), which sounds weird, but it was so good I ended up eating most of it. Nice, relaxed atmosphere with easy access to the rail and bus lines. Definately stop in if you’re in the area. | kosko20 (8), Bemidji, Minnesota does not count | | August 11, 2008 This place is awesome. Great food and awesome local brews. Real cask ales and many other tap brews. Definitely will stop by here to grab a bite to eat and a growler next time in the cities. | | pepsican (22), the beer wastelands of, Iowa | | July 6, 2008 I visited here on a saturday afternoon. I was able to park right across the street, but I bet that was just luck. We sat outside so I didn’t see how it looked inside of the place. The outside was nice and well kept. The beers were pretty darn good, and the wait staff knew a fair amount about the beers on tap. My food was decent at best, but my girlfriend really liked hers. I’d definitely come back to this place. | | Old_Mr_Crow (31), Seattle, Washington | | July 3, 2008 If I were going to design my own brewpub, it would have among other things all of the following features:
+ Broad lineup of interesting, creative beers.
+ At least one outstanding IPA
+ Multiple beers on cask, preferably including the aforementioned IPA
+ An outdoor beer garden for long summer nights
+ A pool table
+ A well-crafted, expansive hardwood bar with plenty of space and a comfortable feel. +Friendly, helpful staff.
There might be other things as well, but off the top of my head those are some of the big ones - and Town Hall nails them all. I spent three straight nights in here at a conference this past summer, The cask IPA was superb, so damn good that it kept me from sampling anything like the full lineup because all I could do was order another pint and another pint of that beauty. Great place, great beer. I’m a big fan. | | TomDecapolis (61), Skippack, Pennsylvania | | June 1, 2008 Stopped in while on business in MN. English pub type feel with a nice outdoor seating area. Beers were top notch and they also feature a few guest taps and bottles. I got the cheeseburger sliders and they were great. | Tweety (6), Boston, Massachusetts does not count | | March 19, 2008 [ Updated May 13, 2008 ] Good atmosphere, good food, and better beer. They make some amazing brews, and they’re reasonably well-priced too. My favorite digs in this city. | | theisti (71), Leawood, Kansas | | March 17, 2008 [ Updated July 2, 2008 ] Visited on Saturday evening 3/15/08. This was a cool bar / brewpub - very laid back with a great variety of folks coming and going. The beer was good as was the service. Unfortunately there was not anything too interesting on when I was there, but the Masala Mama was more than enough to keep me happy all night. They had a nice list of Belgian guest beers, which was nice to see. I did not eat, but the food that was coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled great. | View Page : 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
