| tytoanderso (27), St. Louis Park, Minnesota | | November 21, 2008 A tiny bar in the heart of Uptown. Not the largest tap or bottle selection, but the service is always friendly. usually a Cantillon or 2 on the bottle menu. Food is slightly better than average. A small and caged in patio out front seems a bit claustrophobic at times with the usual Uptown drunkenness on weekend nights. A nice place to chill on a warm fall afternoon though. Nothing spectacular, but if you’re in walking distance, worth a stop. | | pepsican (22), the beer wastelands of, Iowa | | July 5, 2008 This place was packed on a thursday night. We found a spot right away and got good service. They had a decent tap selection. The day we went was $2 off bells, so I stuck with two hearted. They had a bunch of easy to find belgians on tap, which I would have tried if bells wasn’t so cheap and delicious. The food was damn good bar food, and very reasonably priced. I’d come back again. | | KAF (61), Saint Paul, Minnesota | | January 19, 2008 I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. Everyone was very open and into their own thing. They have a few decent brews on tap and the food is good as well. There are of course better bars to go to if beer selection is what you’re looking for. | StPaulPale (1), St Paul, Minnesota does not count - explanation | | March 4, 2007 Best beer selection in Minny. Service is supurb without being frumpy. Food is excellent, American classics, priced right. Beer choices are right on, nice mix of American and European. It’s about time this happened in the Twin Cities. "No big deal" attitude puts this place over the top!! | | hellomynameis (30), Mayer, Minnesota | | March 31, 2006 This seems to be known as the premier beer bar for those who do not know about the various and sundry other beer bars in Minneapolis. A decent list of taps and bottles with an impresive food menu that I have not yet tried. It’s always very popular and very busy. | | JK (98), uptown, Minneapolis, Minnesota | | September 4, 2005 [ Updated August 9, 2007 ] In the same spot as the former Mudpie Restaurant, with the stained glass name of the former tenant still on the door. Nothing especially interesting about the ambiance. Service was ok, even in the usually pretentious uptown setting. Nothing different from the beers listed by Wawood, so it seems they don’t rotate their selection. Besides Hoegaarden and Delirium on tap, nothing that can’t be found elsewhere. An ok bar that I won’t go out of my way for to get a beer.
---------------------------------------------------August 2007. Slightly larger selection that doesn’t appear to rotate. The stilton burger was good. Service was a little weird. They expect you to ask for the special and get angry if you order the special without use the word "special." Not so friendly. Solid beer selection anyway, but of course not the best. | | ElGaucho (146), Minneapolis, Minnesota | | May 13, 2005 A unique, dark wooden interior. Features a covered outdoor patio. Approximately 20 taps that currently include Delirium Tremens, Maredsous 8, Hoegarden, Summit EPA and Amber, SNPA, Bells 2-hearted, and two Rush River varieties. They have darts and Golden Tee for game lovers. Definitely worth a shot, especially if the nearby Bryant Lake Bowl is in your plans. |
